LtCol Schneider enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in 1996. After graduating boot camp as the Golf Company Honor Graduate, he was assigned to MWSS-471 in Minneapolis, Minnesota followed by Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  In June of 2001, he graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics and was commissioned upon completing Officer Candidate School.  After completing The Basic School and flight training, First Lieutenant Schneider was designated a Naval Aviator in May of 2004.

Upon completion of the FRS, First Lieutenant Schneider was assigned to HMM-161 for follow on training in the CH-46E.  While at HMM-161, First Lieutenant, then Captain Schneider served in a variety of squadron leadership billets in the Maintenance, Logistics, and Operations departments.  He also attended WTI 2-08 and deployed three times to Al Taqaddum, Iraq.  During his last deployment with HMM-161, Captain Schneider was selected to transition to the UH-1Y.

Upon completing initial training at HMLAT-303 in June of 2010, Captain Schneider was assigned to HMLA-367 in Camp Pendleton for follow on training in the UH-1Y.  While assigned to Scarface, he was selected to be the senior UH-1Y instructor for the first full upgrades AH-1Z/UH-1Y MEU detachment.  He CHOP’ed to HMM-268(REIN) in April of 2011 and served as the Air Combat Element Quality Assurance Officer and UH-1Y WTI for the 11th MEU during WESTPAC 11-2.

In July of 2012, Major Schneider rejoined HMLA-367 immediately following the squadron’s relocation to MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI.  While stationed with Scarface in Hawaii, he served as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Aircraft Maintenance Officer, and Operations Officer.  He led numerous detachments for training and operational support spanning ITX 4-13 in MCAGCC Twentynine Palms to the 2014 Defense Services Asia Exhibit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  At the end of his tour as the squadron operations officer, Major Schneider served as the MAG-24 Director of Safety and Standardization and WTI.

In 2015, Major Schneider transferred to HQMC Aviation to serve as the H-1 and Future Vertical Lift (FVL) Requirements Officer.  During that time he oversaw 35 projects for the H-1 program, as well as the multi-service FVL effort, and wrote the initial requirements for the next generation of Marine attack and utility aircraft.

In January of 2018, Major Schneider attended TACP school at EWTGLANT and returned to the 11th MEU as the Air Officer and Training Lead.  While in that billet he was promoted to his current rank and selected for command of MAG-41 Det A.  

LtCol Schneider has logged over 2700 hours in the CH-46E and UH-1Y.  He is a Distinguished Graduate of Marine Corps Command and Staff College, an Honor Graduate of the Naval Aviation Safety School and is Requirements Management Level C Certified.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal gold star in lieu of second award, the Air Medal with Strike Flight Numeral 14, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation and Achievement medals.
