Captain Michael Sickels is a native of North Hollywood California.  He graduated from Durham High School, Durham California, in June 1995. 

 

In August 1995, he enlisted in the Air Force and attended Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), San Antonio, Texas.  Upon completion of Utilities System Apprentice School in Sheppard AFB, Texas, Airman Sickels reported to 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron, Fairchild AFB, WA where he served as a Utilities System Apprentice from January 1996 to June 1997.

 

In July 1997, Airman Sickels reported to the 374th Civil Engineer Squadron, Yokota Air Base, Japan where he served as a Utilities System Journeyman.   From September to December 1999, he deployed to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch.  In December 2000, he transferred to the USAF Reserve Program until November 2004.

 

In May 2016, Captain Sickels graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor in International Area Studies.  In December 2006, he was commissioned as a 2ndLt from Officer Candidate School through the Office Candidate Course program.  Upon completion of the Military Police Basic Officer Leadership Course, 2ndLt Sickels reported to Marine Corps Base Butler, Provost Marshals Office, Okinawa Japan in September 2007.  2ndLt Sickels served as a District OIC and Services Officer from October 2007 to June 2010.  In December of 2008, 2ndLt Sickels was promoted to the rank of 1stLt.

 

In June 2010, Capt Sickels reported to Headquarters Battalion, 3D Marine Division where he served as Military Police Company Commander.  Capt Sickels was promoted to his current rank January 2011.

 

In July 2012, Captain Sickels reported to Headquarters Marine Corps, Plans Policies and Operations, Security Division, Law Enforcement and Corrections Branch where he served as the Branch Operations Officer.

 

In July 2015, Captain Sickels reported to his current duty station, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK as the Inspector-Instructor, Detachment Delta Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserves.

 

Captain Sickels personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the United States Air Force Achievement Medal, with oak leaf cluster in lieu of second award, and the United States Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
