Sergeant Major Alden J. Conrad

Sergeant Major Conrad enlisted in the Marine Corps in February, 1996 and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California in August, 1996. After completion of basic training he attended Infantry Training Battalion in November 1996. Upon completion of Infantry Training Private First Class Conrad was assigned to Alpha Co. 1st Battalion 4th Marines as a rifleman in the Recon Security Pit.

While serving with Alpha Co. 1/4 Private First Class. Conrad was promoted to Lance Corporal and then Corporal where he served as Fire Team Leader and Squad Leader. Corporal Conrad deployed as part of the 11th and 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit to Southwest Asia, Middle East, and Australia.

Sergeant Major Conrad left active duty in August of 2000 where he then joined the Selected Marine Corps Reserves where he was assigned to Charlie Co. 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Marine Logistic Group as a Squad Leader. Corporal Conrad was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and attended the Basic Combat Engineer course at Courthouse Bay, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in 2001. 

In 2003 Sergeant Conrad was activated in support of Operation Iragi Freedom I. Sergeant Conrad served as squad leader, demolitions squad during his deployment to Iraq. Upon returning in July 2003 he was reassigned as Platoon Guide. In 2004 Sergeant Conrad was activated in support of Operation Iragi Freedom II. Sergeant Conrad served as Platoon Guide Engineer Platoon in Fallujah. Sergeant Conrad returned home in 2005 where he was assigned as Platoon Sergeant. Sergeant Conrad was promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2006 where he assumed the billets of Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander, and Assistant Operations Chief. 

Staff Sergeant Conrad was activated in 2007 and took the billet of Construction Foreman for a Combat Engineer Platoon to support 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon his return in 2008 Staff Sergeant Conrad returned to Engineer Company Charlie and took the roll of Platoon Commander 1st Platoon. 

In 2010 Staff Sergeant Conrad was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and served as Platoon Commander, Company Operations Chief, and Company Gunnery Sergeant. 

Gunnery Sergeant Conrad was activated in 2013 and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon his return Gunnery Sergeant Conrad was selected to the rank of First Sergeant. 

Gunnery Sergeant Conrad was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in August of 2014 where he was assigned to Bravo Co. 1st Battalion 24th Marines and was assigned as Company First Sergeant. After a two-year tour 1stSgt Conrad was transferred to Engineer Service Company, Combat Logistic Battalion 25 to serve as the company First Sergeant. 

Sergeant Major Conrad was promoted to Sergeant Major in September 2019 and was assigned as Battalion Sergeant Major 2nd Battalion 14th Marine Regiment. 

In July 2022 he was assigned as the Battalion Sergeant Major of 4th Recon Battalion. And then in July of 2023 he was assigned to his current billet as Sergeant Major Marine Corps Advisory Team Bravo. 

His Personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon 6th award, Certificate of Commendation, and Meritorious Mast.
