First Sergeant Luis M. QuinonesRodriguez

Luis M. QuinonesRodriguez is a natice of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. His Marine Corps career began on 17 January 2002 when he attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.

After being promoted to Private First Class he attended Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) in Camp Lejeune, NC. Upon completion of ITB he was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty 0311, Infantry Rifleman. Upon graduation he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 8th Marine Regiment (2/8), Camp Lejeune, NC. He was promoted to Lance Corporal and deployed in January 2003 to July 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

After returning from deployment he was promoted to Corporal and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he supported combat operations in Afghanistan. Upon returning from Afghanistan he was assigned as the Squad Leader for 3rd Platoon, Fox Company and deployed with Battalion Landing Team 2/8, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he supported combat operations in Iraq. In November 2005 he was promoted to Sergeant. Upon returning from the MEU in 2005 Sgt Quinones reported to School of Infantry - East where he served as a Marine Combat Instructor with Golf Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion. Upon completion of his duties as Marine Combat Instructor, Sgt Quinones received orders to 2nd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment.

While in 2nd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment he was selected to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt). SSgt Quinones reenlisted in February 2009. He then deployed to Afghanistan where he was assigned as a Platoon Sergeant, 3rd Platoon, Fox Compnay. Upon returning from deployment SSgt Quinones attended the Career Course aboard Camp Lejeune, NC and continued his duties as a Platoon Sergeant where he remained until he received orders to Marine Forces South in support of the Military Group, United States Embassy, Colombia.

After he returned from Colombia, SSgt Quinones was assigned to 3rd Battalion 9th Marine, 2nd Marine Regiment. He them deployed to Afghanistan where he served as a Platoon Commander for the battalion Personnel Security Detachment in support of combat operations. SSgt Quinones was then assigned as The Basic School in 2013 where he served as a Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company 1stSgt for the Basic Officer Course. In October of 2015 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt).

GySgt Quinones was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment (3/8), Camp Lejeune in July of 2016. He deployed in February 2017 with 3/8 in support as the Forward Battalion East - Unit Deployment Program, 3rd Marine Division where he served as the Battalion Assistant Operations Chief. In November 2017, GySgt Quinones was assigned to Kilo Company 3/8 where he served as the Company Gunnery Sergeant. In August 2018, GySgt Quinones assumed the duties as Senior Enlisted Advisor, 1st Brigade Advisor Team, Task Force Southwest in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel and Resolute Support in Afghanistan.

Upon returning from deployment he received orders to Marine Corps University, Education Command where he served as the
Operations Chief. 

In January 2022, 1stSgt Quinones was promoted to his current rank and assumed the duties of Inspector-Instructor 1stSgt for Company D, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance battalion in January 2022.

1stSgt QuinonesRodriguez has a bachelors of science degree from University of Maryland Global Campus and his personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (2) with a C device, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal (2), Combat Action Ribbon (3), and various other service and campaign medals.
