Gunnery Sergeant Edgar Murillo

Gunnery Sergeantt Edgar Murillo reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, CA for recruit training on 8 September 2003. Upon completing training at MCRD, he reported to Infantry Training Battalion on Camp Pendleton for training.

In April 2004, he reported to Alpha Co, 1st Bn, 3rd Marines in Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH), Kaneohe Bay for duty as Rifleman. There, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In March 2007, Lance Corporal Murillo reported to Security Bn, MCBH as part of the Fleet Augmentation Program for duties as a Military Policeman. In June 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Additionally, Corporal Murillo performed a Lateral Move into Military Police MOS and reported to Fort Leonard Wood, MI for Basic Military Police School. After graduation, he obtained the 5811, Military Police MOS and returned to MCBH.

In August 2008, Corporal Murillo reported Security Bn, Camp Pendleton, CA. for duties as Patrolman. In November 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as an Area Supervisor.

In August 2011, Sergeant Murillo reported to Marine Combat Instructor School, Camp Pendleton, CA. where he obtained the MOS of 0913 Combat Instructor.

In December 2011, Sergeant Murillo reported to Company G, Marine Combat Training Battalion for duties as Combat Instructor. Additionally, Sergeant Murillo served in multiple billets including: Primary Instructor, Senior Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, and Platoon Commander.

In September 2014, Sergeant Murillo reported to Company C, 1st Law Enforcement Bn, Camp Pendleton, CA. where he served as Platoon/Police Sergeant. After being promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in January 2015, he deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) 16.1 to Kuwait in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

In November 2016, Staff Sergeant Murillo reported to Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan for duties as Military Policeman. There, he served multiple billets including Camp/District SNCOIC, Training SNCO, and Training Chief. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in October 2018 and was assigned to Formal Marksmanship Training Center where he served as the Chief Instructor for Combat Marksmanship Coach/Combat Marksmanship Trainer schools.

In November 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Murillo reported to 1st Law Enforcement Bn. There, he deployed to UAE in support of Native Fury Training Exercise as a Platoon Sergeant.

In September 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Murillo reported to 4th Law Enforcement Bn. where he is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for HQ Co, Detachment 1.

Gunnery Sergeant Murillo's military schools include: Military Police Basic School, Corporals Course, Sergeants Course, Marine Combat Instructor School, Basic Instructor School, Formal School Instructor Course, Basic Machine Gun Trainer Course, Combat Marksmanship Coach Course, Combat Marksmanship Trainer Course, SNCO Career Course, Special Reaction Team (SRT) School, and Field Training Officer (FTO) Course.

Gunnery Sergeant Murillo's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 Gold Stars in lieu of 3th award, and Combat Action Ribbon with a Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award.
