Sergeant Major Eric Ouellette, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, joined the Marine Corps in 2001. After graduating MCRD San Diego, he went to the School of Infantry, Amphibious Assault crewman and repair schools at Camp Pendleton, California. He was assigned to 3rs Amphibious Assault Battalion Company E at Camp Pendleton, CA after completion.

In March 2003, Lance Corporal Ouellette was assigned to BLT 1/1, 13th MEU. Lance Corporal Ouellette deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in September of 2003 until 2004. He served as a crewman, mechanic, and patrolman while conducting combat operation in southern Iraq.

In 2004, Lance Corporal Ouellette was reassigned to Company B at 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion. Lance Corporal Ouellette deployed in support of OIF-II and was attached to Company E 2/7 in the Al-Anbar province. Lance Corporal Ouellette was assigned to a provisional infantry platoon and conducted combat operations in the Hit area.

In 2005, he was promoted to Corporal. Corporal Ouellette was assigned to 3rd Platoon Company B while attached to 3rd Amphibious Battalion. Corporal Ouellette was then attached to 3/1 in support of OIF in 2005 and deployed to the Al-Anbar Province, Haditha area from September 2005 until 2006. While deployed he was assigned to weapons company and served as a gunner, driver, and assault-man. While deployed, he was promoted to Sergeant.

In June 2006, Sergeant Ouellette was discharged from active duty and returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota. In August 2007, Sergeant Ouellette was recalled from the Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR) to Active service. Sergeant Ouellette enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve as a military policeman with Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 as they prepared for a deployment to Iraq.

In September 2008, Sergeant Ouellette deployed to Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, Africa as a squad leader with MWSS-471 as the 9th Provisional Security Force (PSF). Sergeant Ouellette conducted mounted, dismounted presence patrols, port security, base security, and embassy security.

In June 2009 Sergeant Ouellette volunteered for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with MWSS-472. While deployed, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He conducted convoy security operations as a security team leader as well as area security while conducting tactical refueling points for CH-53 (Stallions) and CH-43 (Chinook) aircraft. During the deployment, he was the site security command for Combat Outpost Nuhkyb in the Al-Anbar province.

In 2010, Staff Sergeant Ouellette returned to MWSS-471 to become Platoon Sergeant for the military police platoon. In 2011 he volunteered for deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Staff Sergeant Ouellette oversaw convoy security operations and the Incident Response Team in Afghanistan with General Support Motor Transport Company (GSMT), 2nd Supply Battalion. While deployed in the Helmand province, Staff Sergeant Ouellette was the lead enlisted Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer for General Support Company’s compound on Camp Leatherneck.

In 2012, Staff Sergeant Ouellette returned to MWSS-471 and continued as Platoon Sergeant for the military police platoon. In 2013, all military police in the Marine Corps were consolidated from division and air wing to headquarters. The 4th Law Enforcement Battalion was formed, and Staff Sergeant Ouellette was 2nd Platoon Sergeant, Support Company, 4th LEBN.

In October 2013 he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and became the platoon commander for 2nd Platoon, Support Company, 4th LEBN. In 2016 he took over Company Gunnery Sergeant for Support Company, 4th LEBN.

In 2018, he was promoted to First Sergeant and was to Fox Company 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in May.

In June of 2019, First Sergeant Ouellette was mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for the Georgian Liaison Team Rotation 10. While going through mobilization process, he attended the Marine Advisory Course (MAC) at Fort Story, VA. He obtained the MOS of 0570 and advised the Senior Enlisted of the 12th Georgian Light Infantry Battalion while deployed to Bagram Afghanistan. He returned to Fox Company 2/24 in July of 2020.

In June of 2021, First Sergeant Ouellette changed duty stations to 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Fox Company in Columbia, SC. He remained at the Unit until promoted to Sergeant Major in June of 2022.

Sergeant Major Ouellette was assigned as the Sergeant Major for Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 in Minneapolis, MN. Sergeant Major Ouellette is honored to have served with units that have been presented the Meritorious Unit citation as well as the Naval unit citation.
