Biography

 

Lieutenant Colonel Ben Benoy
Commanding Officer
Marine Wing Communication Squadron-48

Lieutenant Colonel Ben Benoy is a 2005 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology.  Following commissioning and completion of the The Basic School and Basic Communication Officer’s Course he was assigned to Marine Corps Base Hawaii.  While there he served as the Base Communications Officer, Operations Officer, and Deputy Director of the Communications & Information Systems Directorate.

In 2009, Captain Benoy left active duty to focus on a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering and his new civilian career as a Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute.

In 2011, Captain Benoy joined Headquarters and Service Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group.  As the S-6 Officer Captain Benoy planned and executed multiple command and control (C2) architectures culminating into the Baltic Operations exercise in Estonia in 2012.

From 2012 to 2015, Captain Benoy served as the Company Commander for Communications Company, 4th Marine Logistics Group.  In 2015 Major Benoy joined Combat Logistics Regiment 45.  While serving as the S-6 Officer, Major Benoy planned and executed C2 architectures for exercises in Jordan and Latvia.

In 2018 Major Benoy activated and deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Southern Command for operations in Central and South America.  While serving as the S-6 Officer, Major Benoy planned and executed C2 architectures for missions supporting his unit and a multi-national maritime task force.

In 2019 Major Benoy joined the staff of 4th Marine Logistics Group.  While serving as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-6, Major Benoy was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and selected for Command of Marine Wing Communications Squadron 48.

In his civilian career, Lieutenant Colonel Benoy designs and implements expeditionary command and control systems for the Department of Defense.  He currently serves as a Senior Research Scientist at the Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research Laboratory at the Georgia Tech Research Institute.

Lieutenant Colonel Benoy is a distinguished graduate of the Marine Corps University Expeditionary Warfare School and the Command and Staff program.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
