Lieutenant Colonel Michael R. Webb

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Webb is a native of Cheney, KS and graduated from Cheney High School in 1997.  He attended Kansas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Technology in May 2001.  After serving as a civilian pilot for three years, Lieutenant Colonel Webb was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps through Officer Candidate School in 2004 and reported to The Basic School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, to complete training.

Upon graduation, Second Lieutenant Webb reported to NAS Pensacola for Aviation Indoctrination in July 2005.  He completed flight training in the T-37B “Tweet” at Vance Air Force Base, Enid, Oklahoma where he graduated on the Commodore’s List w/Distinction.  He then transferred to NAS Meridian, Mississippi for advanced flight training in the T-45C Goshawk.  He received his wings of gold in August 2007.

First Lieutenant Webb then reported to Strike Fighter Squadron 125, the “Rough Raiders” at NAS Lemoore, California, for initial training in the F/A-18C/D Hornet.  Following a deployment to Al Asad Air Base, Iraq in 2009 in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Captain Webb reported to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122, the “Werewolves” at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina.  While assigned to VMFA-122, Captain Webb served as the Substance Abuse Control Officer, Schedules Officer, and Landing Signals Officer.  He deployed to Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan in 2010 in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and again in 2012 to Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa, Djibouti in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. 

Captain Webb reported to Training Squadron TWO TWO, the “Golden Eagles,” at NAS Kingsville, Texas in October 2012 as an Instructor Pilot.  He also served as the Plans Officer, Schedules Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, Pilot for a Day Coordinator, CNATRA Air-to-Ground Phase Head, Weapons Detachment Officer-in-Charge, and served in the Instructor Training Unit and as a Functional Check-Flight Pilot.  Captain Webb was the 2014 VT-22 Instructor Pilot of the Year and the 2014 Kingsville, TX Chamber of Commerce Junior Officer Volunteer of the Year.

Following a refresher in the F/A-18C/D Hornet with Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101, the “Sharpshooters” at MCAS Miramar, California, Major Webb reported to Marine Aircraft Group 12, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan in October 2015 and subsequently deployed as an augment with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit onboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, where he served as the Assistant Future Operations Officer and Senior Watch Officer.  Major Webb returned to MAG-12 in June 2016 and served as the Plans Officer.  

In November 2016, Major Webb reported to Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242, the “Bats” at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, where he served as the S-4 Officer, Director of Safety and Standardization, Assistant Operations Officer, Assistant Aviation Maintenance Officer, and the Executive Officer.  Major Webb also served as an Adjutant Faculty Member for Expeditionary Warfare School.  While assigned to VMFA(AW)-242, Major Webb completed numerous squadron detachments to Australia, Thailand, Guam, and South Korea.

In 2019, Major Webb transitioned from Active Duty to the Active Reserve and received orders to the “Snipers” of Marine Fighter Training Squadron 401 at MCAS Yuma, AZ were he currently serves as the Executive Officer.  Lieutenant Colonel Webb is a graduate of the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) Adversary Course.

Lieutenant Colonel Webb has accumulated more than 3000 flight hours in fighter aircraft.  His personal awards include five Strike Flight Air Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and numerous unit, campaign, and service awards.
