In 1994, Sergeant Noonan received orders to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Service Company, Parris Island, South Carolina where he served several billets and was also the Fitting Deck NCO.  In 1998, Sergeant Noonan attended and graduated from Drill Instructor School and was subsequently assigned to Recruit Training Regiment, 3d Recruit Training Battalion, India Company where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Staff Non-Commissioned Officer of the Recruit Training Regiment Academics Section.  

After completing a successful tour in 2001 as a Drill Instructor, Staff Sergeant Noonan was assigned to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Alpha Company, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan where he assumed the duties as the Regional Contracting Officer for the Defense Subsistence Supply Center (DSSC) aboard Camp Butler.  

In 2004, Gunnery Sergeant Noonan was assigned to Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Service Company, Quantico, Virginia as the Company Gunnery Sergeant.  Further, during the summer months from May 2004 to August 2007, GySgt Noonan assumed duties as an Officer Candidate School Platoon Sergeant where he successfully trained eight platoons while assigned to Echo Company and Golf Company. 

After receiving his promotion to First Sergeant in 2007, First Sergeant Noonan received orders to 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines (WARLORDS), Fox Company, where he was the Company First Sergeant from September 2007 to September 2008.  During his time with Fox Company, First Sergeant Noonan completed a combat deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF 07-09), in Al Anbar Province, Rawah, Iraq.  

Upon his return from OIF, First Sergeant Noonan was transferred to Headquarters and Service Company where he assumed the duties as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant and completed a combat deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF 09-10.1), in Helmand Province, Afghanistan from November 2009 to May 2010.  

After completing his deployment with 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines, First Sergeant Noonan was assigned to Wounded Warrior Battalion-East, Alpha Company, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to assume the duties as the Alpha Company First Sergeant from September 2010 to December 2011.  

In December 2011, Sergeant Major Noonan was assigned to 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Aircraft Group-14, Marine Attack Training Squadron 203 (VMAT-203) as the VMAT-203 Squadron Sergeant Major. 

Sergeant Major Noonan reported to Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command in February 2014, and was assigned as the Sergeant Major of 2d Marine Special Operations Support Battalion.  In April 2015 Sergeant Major Noonan reported to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment and was assigned as the Regimental Sergeant Major.  On May 12, 2017 Sergeant Major Noonan completed his tour with Marine Corps Security Force Regiment and will take over as the Force Headquarters Group Sergeant Major on June 16, 2017.

Sergeant Major Noonan’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Gold Stars, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 4 gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars.
