Biography

 

First Sergeant Eric P. Ouellette
First Sergeant, Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

First Sergeant Eric Ouellette, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota joined the USMC in 2001.  After graduating basic training at MCRD San Diego, he went to the School of Infantry and Amphibious Assault crewman and repairman school at Camp Pendleton, CA.  He was assigned to 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion Company E at Camp Pendleton, CA.

 

In March 2003, Lance Corporal Ouellette was assigned to BLT 1/1, 13th MEU.  Lance Corporal Ouellette deployed in support of OIF in September of 2003 until 2004.  He served as crewman, mechanic and patrolman while conducting combat operations in southern Iraq. 

 

In 2004, LCpl Ouellette was reassigned to Company B at 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion.  Lance Corporal Ouellette deployed in support of OIF-II and was attached to Company E 2/7.  Lance Corporal was assigned to a provisional infantry platoon and conducted combat operations in the Al-Anbar province.

 

In 2005, he was promoted to Corporal.  Corporal Ouellette was assigned to 3rd Platoon Company B while attached to 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion.  Corporal Ouellette was attached to 3/1 in 2005 and deployed to Al-Anbar Province in September of 2005 until 2006.  While deployed he was assigned to weapons company and served as gunner, driver and assault-man. While deployed he was promoted to Sergeant.

 

In June 2006, Sergeant Ouellette was discharged from active duty and returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota.  In August 2007 Sergeant Ouellette received a letter from headquarters Marine Corps recalling him to Active service.  Sergeant Ouellette enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve as a military policeman with Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 for deployment to Iraq.

 

In September 2008 Sergeant Ouellette deployed to Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, Africa as a squad leader.  Sergeant Ouellette conducted mounted and dismounted presence patrols, Port security, base security and embassy security.

 

In June 2009 Sergeant Ouellette volunteered for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with MWSS-472.  While deployed he was promoted to Staff Sergeant.  He conducted convoy security operations as security team leader and area security while conducting tactical refueling points for CH-53 (Stallions) and CH-43 (Chinook).  He was also the site security command for Combat Outpost Nuhkyb in the Al-Anbar province.

 

In 2010 Staff Sergeant returned to MWSS-471 to become platoon sergeant for the military police platoon.  In 2011 he volunteered for deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Staff Sergeant Ouellette oversaw convoy security operations and the Incident Response Team in Afghanistan with 2nd Supply Battalion.  While deployed in the Helmand province, Staff Sergeant Ouellette was the lead enlisted Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer for General Support Company’s compound on Camp Leatherneck.

 

In 2012, Staff Sergeant Ouellette returned to MWSS-471 and continued as Platoon Sergeant for the military police platoon.  In 2013 all military police in the Marine Corps were consolidated from division and air wing to headquarters.  The 4th Law Enforcement Battalion was formed, and Staff Sergeant Ouellette was 2nd Platoon Sergeant. 

 

In October 2013 he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and attended the Advanced Career Course in Quantico, VA.  He became the platoon commander for 2nd Platoon.  In 2016 he took over Company Gunnery Sergeant for Support Company. 

  

In 2018 he was promoted to First Sergeant and was assigned to Fox Company 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in Milwaukee Wisconsin, in May of 2018.

 

First Sergeant Ouellette’s personal awards include: the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Navy Commendation medal.
