Major Schulz was commissioned through OCC 193 on 15 December 2006 after graduating with a Theology BA, from Hampden Sydney College in May of 2005. Checking in to Bravo Company at TBS, he graduated in the summer of 2007 and went on to become a Direct Air Support Control (DASC) Officer.

 

Once trained, Second Lieutenant Schulz was assigned to Marine Air Support Squadron – 1, aboard MCAS Cherry Point. While a Chieftain, Second Lieutenant Schulz was deployed to OEF March – November 2008 with the 24 MEU for Operation Azada Wosa, returning to be promoted to First Lieutenant in December of 2008. After a short rest in CONUS, First Lieutenant Schulz was deployed to OEF July 2009 - March 2010 in support of Operations Khanjer and Moshtarek. Executing a PCA move to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron – 28, First Lieutenant Schulz was promoted to Captain in January 2011 and deployed to OEF a third time during August 2011 – February 2012.

 

Captain Schulz returned from Afghanistan executing orders to Officer Candidate School shortly thereafter, where he served as an Academics Instructor, Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, Academics Instruction OIC, and the Academics OIC. Upon successful completion of three years at the Officer Candidate School, Captain Schulz executed orders to Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where he currently serves as the Executive Officer and Site Commander for Marine Air Support Squadron – 6 and the Marine Corps Site Support Element, Chicopee, respectively. He was promoted to his current rank on 1 May 2017.

 

Major Schulz is a graduate of the Basic and Senior Instructor Courses, the Naval Justice School’s Legal Officer Course, the Expeditionary Warfare School, and is currently working his way through the Command and Staff Distance Course. He holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and his personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of 2nd award. Major Schulz is married and has two children.
