Captain Alex Nacu
Battery Commander
Oscar Battery, 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment

Alex Nacu enlisted in December of 2004 and completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego in November 2005. After completing the School of Infantry aboard Camp Pendleton, California, he reporter to the 81mm Mortal Platoon, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines. In September 2006, Lance Corporal Nacu deployed to the Haditha Triad in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In August 2007 he completed the Infantry Squad Leader course and in January 2008, Corporal Nacu deployed to Fallujah, Iraq, where he served as assistant patrol leader. In January 2009, Corporal Nacu was assigned as a jungle warfare instructor at the Jungle Warfare Training Center aboard Camp Gonzalves, Okinawa where he served until June 2009.

In January 2011, Sergeant Nacu transferred to the reserves and reported to Company E, 2nd Battalion 23rd Marines in San Bruno, California where he served as the 60mm Mortar section leader and Weapons Platoon Sergeant until January 2014. In June 2011, he graduated from De Anza College in Cupertino, California with an Associates Degree in Behavioral Science and in August 2012 Sergeant Nacu graduated the Platoon Leader’s Course in Quantico, Virginia. Upon his graduation from the University of California, San Diego in 2013 with a degree in Political Science/International Studies, he accepted his commission in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

In March 2014, Lieutenant Nacu reported to the Basic School and upon graduation subsequently completed the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course. In May 2015, Lieutenant Nacu reported to Battery N, 5th Battalion 14th Marines where he served as Platoon Commander, Forward Observer, Battalion Fire Support Officer and Executive Officer. In September 2018, Captain Nacu reported to Headquarters Battery, 5th Battalion 14th Marines where he served as Assistant Regimental Fire Support Coordinator, Battalion Fire Direction Officer and Assistant Operations Officer.

Captain Nacu is an Officer with the California Highway Patrol and is a graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School. Captain Nacu accepted command of Battery O in October 2021.
