Sergeant Major Jerome assumed the duties of Inspector Instructor Sergeant Major for 3d Battalion, 23d Marines in January 2015.

Sergeant Major Jerome enlisted in the Marine Corps in Detroit, Michigan in May 1993. He attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina and School of Infantry East at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Upon completion of training Private First Class Jerome attended Basic Military Police School and Military Working Dog Training. He was then assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for duty as an Explosive Dog Handler and Special Reaction Team member.
In May 1997, Corporal Jerome reported to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay for duty as a Narcotics Dog Handler, Special Reaction Team member and Watch Commander. In October 1998 Sergeant Jerome was assigned as the Kennelmaster, Special Reaction Team Commander and the Enlisted Representative of the Civilian/Military Counsel.

In July 2001 and July 2002, Staff Sergeant Jerome served as the Force Protection Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge for Operation GOLDEN SPEAR in Kenya, Africa.

In September 2001, Staff Sergeant Jerome was assigned as the SNCOIC of the Security Augmentation Force, integrating Military Police with Infantry to secure and defend MEVA’s and establish a heightened Force Protection level aboard two installations.

In August 2003, he was assigned to 2d Military Police Battalion, SPMAGTF Kuwait, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, where he served as a Convoy Commander, Watch Officer and Kennelmaster.

In September 2005, Gunnery Sergeant Jerome reported to Recruiting Station Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for duty as a Recruiter, Station Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge and Officer Selection Assistant.

In March 2009, Gunnery Sergeant Jerome reported to First Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton California. He served as a Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant.

In January 2010, First Sergeant Jerome reported to First Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, for duty as a company First Sergeant. He deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in Support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 1-0, 1-1, and 121.

In September 2012, First Sergeant Jerome reported to Battery Q, 5th Battalion, 14th Marines in Aurora, Colorado and assumed the duties of Inspector Instructor First Sergeant.

Sergeant Major Jerome’s personal awards include: the Meritorious Service Medal; the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal(gold star in lieu of subsequent awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal(gold stars in lieu of subsequent awards), the Combat Action Ribbon and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
