LtCol Kathryn I. Miller is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the PLC-97 OCS course and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 1998 after graduating from the University of Louisville with a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She completed The Basic School (TBS) in June 1999. Following MOS school, 2nd Lieutenant Miller reported to Combat Service Support Detachment-16 in Yuma, Arizona for her first assignment as the unit Supply Officer and Executive Officer. In December 2001, First Lieutenant Miller reported to Parris Island, South Carolina. There she served as a Series Commander and Company Commander at 4th Recruit Training Battalion. During this assignment Captain Miller completed the USMC Expeditionary Warfare School non-resident course. 

Captain Miller reported to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in August 2004 where she served as a unit Supply Officer for II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group (MHG). Captain Miller deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in 2004 and 2005.  

In April 2007, Captain Miller reported to Fort Lee, Virginia to attend the Army Captains’ Career Course. During this course, she completed the Joint Operations and Planning and Execution System (JOPES) training and the Army Transportation Management Course.  

In September of 2007, Captain Miller was selected to serve as a member Field Supply Maintenance Analysis Office (FSMAO) - East. She participated in the revision and reimplementation of the FSMAO program and conducted numerous analyses through the utilization of her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.  

In June 2010, Major Miller reported to MCB Quantico and attended the USMC Command and Staff College resident course where she obtained her Masters in Military Studies. Upon completion of resident PME, Major Miller transferred to Okinawa and served as the Operations Officer for CLR-35. Major Miller then transferred to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) G-4 and served as the Materiel Readiness Branch OIC and Operations Officer. In January 2014, she deployed with Marine Aircraft Group-Afghanistan and served as the S-4 OIC during OEF 14.1. Upon return, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel where she served as the 3d MAW Deputy for Aviation Ground Support Department until September of 2015.  

From October 2015 to June 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Miller served as the I MEF Staff Secretary.

Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars as well as various campaigns and service awards.
