Sergeant Major Douglas was born on 25 July 1969, in Philadelphia, Pa. He joined the Marine Corps in August of 1987 and attended Recruit Training at MCRD, Paris Island, S.C. Upon graduation from Recruit Training, he attended MATSG, NTTC in Meridian, Mississippi and was assigned the MOS of 7041, Aviation Operation Specialist.

In March 1988, PFC Douglas reported to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 252, MCAS Cherry Point, N.C. (VMGR-252) for duty. During August 1990, LCpl Douglas deployed with 4 KC-130’s from VMGR-252 to Siera Leone in support of 22 MEU.

In December 1990, Cpl Douglas deployed with VMGR-252 Det-A with 6 KC-130’s to Bahrain ISO Desert Storm/Desert Shield. While at Bahrain, VMGR-252 was attached to VMGR-352 (El Toro).

During October 1993, Sgt Douglas reported to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 452, Newburgh NY as the Squadron Operations Chief.

In December 1996, SSgt Douglas reported to VMFA (AW)-224 and deployed to Aviano, Italy in support of Operation Southern Watch and Silver Wake.

Transferring to the Marine Corps Reserves in 1998, SSgt Douglas joined MWSS-474, NAS Willow Grove, Pa. There he served as the Operations Chief and SORTS Officer.

In November 2002, GySgt Douglas reported to VMGR-452. During January 2003, GySgt Douglas was activated for service during Operation Enduring Freedom, Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom based in Kuwait.

In June 2004, GySgt Douglas was reactivated a second time for service in Iraq. There he served as the Operations Chief of a Detachment of two composite Squadrons from VMGR-452 and VMGR-352. Here he was selected for promotion to First Sergeant.

Early June 2005 1stSgt Douglas reported to 6th Communication Battalion, 4th FSSG, MARFORRES, Brooklyn New York as Headquarters First Sergeant.

In Sep 2006, 1stSgt Douglas assumed the duties as Service Company First Sergeant at 6th Communication, 4th MLG, MARFORRES, Brooklyn, New York.

In August 2010, 1stSgt Douglas assumed the duties as 6th Communication BN Acting SgtMaj until being selected to Sergeant Major.

In August 2011, SgtMaj Douglas assumed the duties as 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines Sergeant Major until being slated as MATSG-42 Sergeant Major in August 2015.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 gold star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (1 gold star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 gold stars in lieu of 5th award).
