SAVANNAH, Ga. -- It's small, it's dirty and most the buildings already look as though they've been bombed out.
It must be a location destination for an upcoming inspection.
More than 100 members of the
916th Air Refueling Wing, the
440th Airlift Wing and Airmen from
McChord,
Hickam and
Langley all descended on the
Savannah Combat Readiness Training Center on Monday to stake their claim for an upcoming Operational Readiness Exercise.
For two days Airmen looked at facilities, chosing primary and alternate work locations, addressed communication needs and discussed work issues with counterparts. All this planning pushes the wings closer to an October exercise at the facility, with an upcoming Operational Readiness Inspection slated for early 2011.
The location certainly has its challenges, not being used for inspections for several years due to renovations and construction on the base.
Leadership and teams from both wings will work together closely over the next several weeks to address concerns and ensure the facilities are ready to host more than 800 Airmen scheduled to conduct war scenario exercises there in two months.
