Biography

 

Sergeant Major Jacob H. Rozelle
Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major, 6th Engineer Support Battalion

Sergeant Major Rozelle is a native of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in June of 1997 and reported to recruit training aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC. Upon graduating from recruit training, Sergeant Major Rozelle reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, NC. After completion of Marine Combat Training, He reported to Motor Transport Operations School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where he attained the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 3531.

Upon graduation of MOS school, he augmented to the Marine Corps Reserve and received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 472, Detachment A in Wyoming, PA. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in January of 2000 and assumed the duties of Dispatcher. Sergeant Major Rozelle augmented to active duty in January of 2001 and joined the site staff, where he served in supply and motor transport billets.

In April of 2004, Sergeant Major Rozelle reported to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines. In June of 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assumed the billet of Platoon Sergeant. From April 2005 to December 2005, Sergeant Major Rozelle deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Kunar Province of Afghanistan and served as the Operational Support Team Motor Transport Chief. From August 2006 to March 2007, Sergeant Major Rozelle deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Haditha Triad, Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Sergeant Major Rozelle served in various leadership billets for all logistical resupply and vehicle recovery patrols within the battalion’s area of operations.

In April of 2007, Sergeant Major Rozelle executed orders to Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. 8th & I. He served in motor transport operations billets as well as a docent at the Home of the Commandants. In February 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was reassigned to Company A, serving in the billets of Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Commander.

In April of 2010, Sergeant Major Rozelle was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and received orders to 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, where he was assigned to Battery F as Motor Transport Chief. From February 2011 to September 2011, Sergeant Major Rozelle deployed with Battery F under Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines in support of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

In September of 2012, Sergeant Major Rozelle reported to Combat Instructor School, School of Infantry West. Upon completion of school, he was assigned to Fox Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion as a Combat Instructor. In August of 2013, Sergeant Major Rozelle was reassigned to serve as the Company F First Sergeant.

In April of 2014, Sergeant Major Rozelle was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to Combat Logistics Company 21, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2d Marine Logistics Group.

Sergeant Major Rozelle reported to 3d Battalion, 3d Marines in May of 2017 where he served as the Company K First Sergeant. During his tenure, Sergeant Major Rozelle deployed as part of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan from December 2017 to May of 2018.

In July of 2018, Sergeant Major Rozelle was frocked to his current rank and reported to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 where he served as Squadron Sergeant Major.

In July of 2020, Sergeant Major Rozelle executed orders to 6th Engineer Support Battalion where he is serving as Battalion Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Rozelle’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars in lieu of fifth award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star in lieu of second award.
