Family Readiness Program keeps faith with Reserve Marines

Despite the government shutdown, the family readiness program and family readiness officers are ready to assist Reserve Marines throughout 163 Marine Forces Reserve sites. These programs are not only a benefit to the service members and their families, but they also uphold the unit's morale and readiness during the government shutdown and beyond.

The family readiness program offers a variety of services, from financial assistance to programs promoting well-being, in order to support military families during stressful times. Service members can link up with multiple resources through their unit’s FRO. These individuals are not part of the furlough and are on standby to help military families. They actively manage, coordinate and promote all matters pertaining to their unit’s family readiness, and serve as military points of contact concerning all unit family issues regarding their well-being.

“We’re the first place where Marines should start if they are in need of any help,” said Kevin Allen Galatas, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing FRO. “They can call us anytime, and we can direct them to the appropriate resources.”

The FROs are available for each command throughout MARFORRES to include 4th MAW, 4th Marine Division and 4th Marine Logistics Group. Each has a specific list of available services in their unit’s location that are accessible for Marines during the government shutdown. Some services might not be available during the shutdown, but the FROs can be reached at any time and provide all the resources that will be accessible.
For more information please contact your FRO.
