First Sergeant Jeffrey Nunez is a native of New Brunswick, NJ and Caguas, PR. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 2012 out of Reading, PA and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, with Bravo Company,1st Recruit Training Battalion.
Upon completion of recruit training, First Sergeant Nunez completed the Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Following Marine Combat Training, First Sergeant Nunez checked into Aviation "A" School in Pensacola, Florida for basic studies of aircraft aviation and intermediate level aviation electronics where he was promoted to Private First Class. Following training in Pensacola, FL, First Sergeant Nunez then attended "C" school at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training in Cherry Point, North Carolina to study as an I-Level avionics technician earning the primary MOS of 6483 in September of 2013.
First Sergeant Nunez received his first fleet orders to MALS-14 Cherry Point, NC in October of 2013 where he was promoted to Lance Corporal. As an avionics technician, he deployed on the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2014 as a part of the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Detachment. During this deployment First Sergeant Nunez was promoted to Corporal and became a Collateral Duty Inspector shortly after. Following the deployment First Sergeant Nunez became the NCOIC for the Communications/Navigations section for the Avionics Department in August of 2015. During his time in MALS-14 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in March of 2016 supporting the unit as the Chief Instructor for Lance Corporal Seminar and Lead Instructor for Corporals Course.
In February of 2017, First Sergeant Nunez received orders to the Center of Naval Aviation Technical Training Command in Cherry Point, NC to become an avionics instructor. During his time there he was promoted to Staff Sergeant in May of 2019 where he became the SNCOIC of I level Avionics Section, a Instructor Evaluator, a Master Training Specialist, and Instructor of the Quarter multiple times.
In July of 2020, First Sergeant Nunez attended Recruiting School in San Diego, CA, where he graduated as the Honor Graduate for class 5-20. He was assigned to Recruiting Station Tampa, FL, where he checked into RSS Orlando as canvassing recruiter in September of 2020. While assigned to RSS Orlando his valuable impact led to his selection to be meritoriously promoted to his current rank of Gunnery Sergeant in June of 2022. Shortly after his promotion he was hand selected to become the Officer Selection Assistant for OSS Orlando working with colleges in the Central Florida area like UCF, USF, Rollins, University of Tampa, and Stetson.
In September of 2023, First Sergeant Nunez received orders to MALS-11 Miramar, CA and served as the SNCOIC for the Communication/Navigation section in the Avionics Department. During his time in MALS-11 he was a collateral duty inspector, the POD coordinator for 3rd MAW, and later on becoming the SNCOA for the Avionics Department.
In December of 2024, First Sergeant Nunez received orders to the Marine Aviation Detachment in NAS Patuxent River, MD to serve as the Operations Officer for the MAD. Where he held the billets of Operations Chief, Training Chief, Supply Officer, and Squadron Gunnery Sergeant.
In March of 2026, First Sergeant Nunez received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 451, Motor Transport Company where he currently serves as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant.
First Sergeant Nunez's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with (2) Gold Stars; Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with (4) Gold Stars; and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
