First Sergeant Jessica Guevara is a native of Cambridge, Massachusetts. She graduated from Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School in June 2004 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 7 August 2006. She completed recruit training with Papa Company, 4th Battalion, Parris Island, South Carolina, on 3 November 2006 followed by Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger. She then attended MOS school at Courthouse Bay, North Carolina, earning the MOS 1141, Electrician. and graduated on December 2006.
In December 2007, Lance Corporal Guevara reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB), Camp Lejeune, where she served as an electrician. Shortly after, she was assigned Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) to Combat Logistics Battalion 26 and deployed with the 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit, returning in March 2009. In June 2009 Lance Corporal Guevara resumed duties at 8th ESB as an Electrician and the Operations Clerk.
In June 2010, Corporal Guevara executed PCA orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 (MWSS-271), Engineer Company in Cherry Point, serving as an Electrician. In January 2011, she deployed with 2d MEF Headquarters Group, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom serving at Camp Leatherneck, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, where she was hand selected to support in the Camp Commandant operations as an Electrician. Corporal Guevara returned in February 2012. She later attended the Advanced Electrician Course, graduating as the Honor Graduate. Corporal Guevara returned to MWSS-271 and served as the Electrical section NCOIC. In February 2013, she was promoted to Sergeant and served as the Company Training NCO and Company Gunnery Sergeant for Engineer Company.
In May 2014, Sergeant Guevara executed PCS orders to 1st Marine Corps District, Garden City, New York, where she served as a sentry and the training NCO. During this tour, Sergeant Guevara was responsible for maintaining security for over 350 Marines and civilian personnel, an armory of over 10.1 million in assets with over 700 weapons, and their accompany optics and ordinance. In addition Sergeant Guevara collaborated with local law enforcement in efforts to train on various weapons and security assets. In October 2016, she was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In June 2017, Staff Sergeant Guevara executed PCS orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 5, Camp Pendleton as the Headquarters and Service Company Gunnery Sergeant. In October 2018, Staff Sergeant Guevara executed PCA orders to 7th ESB, Engineer Support Company to serve as the Electrical Section Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in charge and the Battalion Safety Manager. In August 2021, she was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and served as the Battalion Legal Chief.
In January 2022, Gunnery Sergeant Guevara executed PCS orders to Staff Non-Commissioned Academy, Camp Lejeune, NC, where she earned the MOS 0961 and became a Master Faculty Advisor in Career School. She also served as the Academy's Sexual Assault Prevention Response Representative. In March 2025, she executed PCA orders to Marine Air Control Group 28 and served as the Utilities Chief, Facilities Chief, and Ground Safety Manager, conducting site assist visits for seven units and coordinating facility concerns between the Group, MAW and base agencies. On June 1, 2026, she was promoted to First Sergeant.
On July 1, 2026, First Sergeant Guevara executed orders to Inspector-Instructor Staff, Allentown, Pennsylvania, and serves as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant.
First Sergeant Guevara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. First Sergeant Guevara's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Commendation Medal with two gold stars and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two stars.
