Biography

 

Major Brian K. Hua
Inspector-Instructor
India Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment

Major Hua is a native of Austin, Texas. He completed his undergraduate education in 2010 at Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Sciences and Graduate Certificate in Advanced International Affairs. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2010.  

After graduating from The Basic School and the Infantry Officers Course, Maj Hua reported to 3d Battalion, 4th Marines in Twentynine-Palms, CA and assigned to Company L, 2nd Platoon. In March 2013, he deployed as a rifle platoon commander to Musa Qa’lah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While with 3d Battalion, 4th Marines he also served as executive officer and company commander. In June 2014, Major Hua was reassigned to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion as the assistant operations officers and jump platoon commander.

In May 2015, Major Hua transferred to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. During this period, Maj Hua assigned to Hotel and Golf Company, 2d Recruit Training Battalion, where he completed ten training cycles, holding the billets of series commander and company commander.

In June 2018, Maj Hua was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton, CA as company commander for Headquarters Company. In February 2019, Major Hua took command of Company L, air assault company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines. As company commander, he participated in a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation (MCCRE) and Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI). 

In December 2019, upon selection to Major, Maj Hua was reassigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) command element. The 13th MEU deployed in April 2020 as the command element for Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Central Command (SPMAGTF CR-CC) 20.2. While deployed, Maj Hua served as the Security Cooperation Team Jordan (SCT-J) officer in charge, the SPMAGTF CR-CC assistant future operations officer, and the Forward Command Element (FCE) officer in charge for the relocation of the SPMAGTF CR-CC. Upon return in February 2021, Maj Hua was assigned to 1st Marine Division as the Advanced Information Operations Officer.

In July of 2021, Maj Hua was assigned to Site Support Johnson City, Tennessee where he is currently serving as the Inspector-Instructor for India Company 3d Battalion, 25th Marines.

Maj Hua’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
