Sergeant Major Jaime S. Alvarez
Inspector-Instructor Command Senior Enlisted Leader
6th Communication Battalion

A native of Yonkers, New York, Sergeant Major Alvarez enlisted in the Marine Corps in July, 2001. He completed recruit training in September of 2001 at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. He was then transferred to the School of Infantry East, where he completed Marine Combat Training and was subsequently assigned to Camp Johnson, North Carolina where he attended the Basic Automotive Technician Course.

Sergeant Major Alvarez' operational assignments include: Automotive Technician, Turret Gunner, Fire Team Leader, and Platoon Sergeant, Bravo Company, 2d Maintenance Battalion & 2d Military Police Company, 2d Force Service Support Group from 2002 to 2004, during which he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom during the liberation of Iraq and transition of Iraq; Platoon Sergeant and Maintenance Shop Chief, Headquarters and Service Battery and Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3d Marine Division, from 2005 to 2007, during which he deployed in support of the Unit Deployment Program, Okinawa Japan; Motor Transport Chief, Headquarters and Service Company, 3d Radio Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force from 2010 to 2013; Motor Transport Chief and Company First Sergeant, Headquarters and Service Company and Echo Company from 2016 to 2017, during which he deployed as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.

His service outside the operating forces include: Canvasing Recruiter and Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Recruiting Sub-Station Westchester, Recruiting Station Albany, New York from 2007 to 2010; Motor Transport Chief and Inspector Instructor First Sergeant, Headquarters and Service and Weapons Company, 2d Battalion 25th Marines from 2013 to 2016; Site First Sergeant and Inspector Instructor, Detachment 1, Landing Support Company, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico from 2018 to 2021; and presently the Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major, Site Support, 6th Communication Battalion, Brooklyn, New York.

Sergeant Major Alvarez is a graduate of Sergeants Course, Basic Recruiters Course, Career Course, Martial Arts Instructor Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education I, Advanced Course, Primary Enlisted PME Course (US Naval War College Distance Education), Regional E-8 Seminar, First Sergeants Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education II and the Air Force Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Management (Magna Cum Laude) from American Military University.

Sergeant Major Alvarez' personal decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
