Biography

 

Major Christopher R. Kenney
Inspector-Instructor
Company E, 2D Battalion 25th Marine Regiment

Major Kenney is a native of Baltimore, Maryland.  He was commissioned into the Marine Corps on 15 May 2011 after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the Virginia Military Institute.  He reported to The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, VA in 2011 and was assigned to Fox Company in the Basic Officers Course (BOC).  Upon completion of the BOC, Second Lieutenant Kenney was assigned to Infantry Officer Course (IOC) Class 3-12. 

Second Lieutenant Kenney reported for duty with First Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment in July 2012 and was assigned to Bravo Company as a Rifle Platoon Commander.  While serving in Bravo Company, in 2014 he deployed on the USS Bataan in support of the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) as a Rifle Platoon Commander.  In January of 2015, following the MEU deployment, he was assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer (S3A) at Third Battalion, Eighth Marine Regiment, and subsequently deployed in support of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) Europe and Africa to Romania in August 2015.  Upon returning from the SPMAGTF, First Lieutenant Kenney was assigned as the Headquarters and Services Company Executive Officer than Company Commander.

First Lieutenant Kenney reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island (MCRDPI) in July of 2016 and was assigned to Delta Company, First Recruit Training Battalion as Lead Series Commander.  Following four cycles, Captain Kenney was assigned to Charlie Company as the Company Commander.  Following two and a partial cycles, Captain Kenney was assigned as Support Battalion Operations Officer.  During his time at MCRDPI, Captain Kenney completed the Expeditionary Warfare School Non-Resident Course.  

Captain Kenney reported to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines in July 2019 and was assigned to Headquarters and Services Company as the S3A.  While serving as the S3A, he deployed in support of the Unit Deployment Program Hawaii (UDPH) to Okinawa, Japan.  At the end of this deployment, Captain Kenney assumed command of Golf Company.  As Golf Company Commander, Captain Kenney deployed for a second time to the UDPH in Okinawa, Japan.  During his tour in Hawaii, Captain Kenney completed the Command and Staff College Non-Resident Course.        

Captain Kenney reported as the Instructor and Inspector for Echo Company, Second Battalion, 25th Marines in Harrisburg, PA in June of 2022, where he currently resides.  

Captain Kenney's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
