Biography

 

Captain Spencer C. Toy
Commanding Officer
Military Police Company B

A native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Captain Spencer Toy graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Foreign Language Minor in Mandarin Chinese.  He was commissioned in 2013 and is a Military Police Officer by trade.

Upon completing the Military Police Basic Officer Leader Course in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Captain Toy reported to 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, where he served as a Platoon Commander.

In November 2015, Captain Toy attached to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines where he deployed to Mihail Kogalniceanu, Romania in support of the Black Sea Rotational Force 16.1 in January 2016. While deployed, he served as the Law Enforcement Detachment Officer in Charge, Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection Officer, and Non-Lethal Weapons Officer for the Black Sea Rotational Force 16.1.

Upon returning from Romania in August 2016, Captain Toy reported to II Expeditionary Operations Training Group at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune where he served as the Stability Operations Officer in Charge.  He was promoted to the rank of Captain at II Expeditionary Operations Training Group in February 2018.

In May 2018, Captain Toy ended his active service and transitioned to civilian life where he pursued and obtained a master’s degree in Criminal Justice with a Concentration in Federal Law Enforcement from Saint Joseph’s University. Captain Toy began his civilian career with Allied Universal Security Services as a Professional Security Officer in Jacksonville, North Carolina in November 2018.  He transitioned into the role of Chief of Security at Coastal Carolina Community College in April 2019, and in February of 2020, he transitioned to serving as the Director of Security at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC.  During this role, he obtained the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from ASIS International.

Captain Toy’s first assignment in the Marine Corps Reserves was with the II Marine Expeditionary Force Individual Marine Augmentee Detachment in July of 2018.  He served as a training officer with the G9 and G3-7 sections.  Following this assignment, Captain Toy assumed duties as 2nd Platoon Commander, Bravo Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion in December 2020.

In September 2021, Captain Toy activated in support of Marine Corps Base Quantico Provost Marshal’s Office (PMO), leading a detachment of military policemen who augmented the base’s PMO while they provided security for Afghan Refugee Operations in the fallout of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.  After these orders were completed, he relocated from North Carolina to Tennessee where he resumed work with Allied Universal Security Services as Director of Security for the Vanderbilt Health system.  He currently remains employed with Allied Universal as an Enterprise Account Client Manager, servicing clients in the Southeastern U.S.

Captain Toy assumed the duties of Executive Officer of B Company in May 2022, and later assumed his current role of Company Commander in April 2023.

Captain Toy’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
