Biography

 

First Sergeant Mitchell L. Fury
Inspector Instructor First Sergeant, 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company

First Sergeant Fury is a native of Palatka, Fl.  He graduated recruit training in October of 2003 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.  After boot camp, Private Fury attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, North Carolina.  In December of 2003, Private Fury reported to Marine Detachment Corry Station, to attend Cytological Technician "O" Class training. In March of 2004, Private First Class Fury reported for duty at 3rd Radio Battalion, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii for service as a Special Intelligence Communicator.  Lance Corporal Fury deployed to Iraq with 3rd Radio Battalion as a Special Intelligence Communicator from August 2005 to April 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In March of 2006, Lance Corporal Fury was meritoriously promoted to Corporal.  Directly following his promotion, Corporal Fury was subsequently assigned as the Information Assurance Officer for 3rd Radio Battalion.  In July 2007, Corporal Fury was promoted to Sergeant.

In August of 2007 Sergeant Fury reported for duty to Marine Detachment Corry Station, Pensacola Florida.  He served as the Chief Instructor and Platoon Sergeant of the Special Intelligence Communicator School. 

In August 2009, Sergeant Fury completed the Martial Arts instructor Course, at Marine Aviation Training Support Group-21 becoming a 1st Degree Black Belt Instructor.   Sergeant Fury was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in May of 2010 while attending Career Course at the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Camp Lejeune, NC. In June of 2010, Staff Sergeant Fury reported for duty at 2nd Radio Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC as a Special Intelligence Communicator.  Staff Sergeant Fury deployed with 2nd Radio Battalion to Afghanistan from July 2011 to January 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Communications Officer for the Battalion.  Upon return from deployment in 2012, Staff Sergeant Fury was assigned as the Headquarters and Support Company, Company Gunnery Sergeant.

In June 2013, Staff Sergeant Fury reported for duty at the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, Quantico, VA for service as a Faculty Advisor and subsequently the Chief Faculty Advisor for Sergeants Course.  During his tour at the academy he achieved the Master Faculty Advisor certification and was an instructor at the Faculty Advisors Course. 

In October of 2015 Staff Sergeant Fury was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. In November 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Fury reported for duty at 2d Special Security Communications Team, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA for service as the Team Chief.  Gunnery Sergeant Fury deployed to Iraq with Task Force Al Asad from November 2016 to August 2017 in support of Operation Inherit Resolve as the Task Force Watch Chief, Company Gunnery Sergeant, and Camp Commandant. Upon return from deployment in August of 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Fury returned to 2d Special Security Communications Team and continued to work as the Team Chief.  During this time, he completed his bachelor's degree in business and leadership studies from Trident International University. 

In July of 2018 Gunnery Sergeant Fury attended and completed Combat Instructor School and transferred to Marine Combat Training Battalion, Golf Company, and served as the Chief Instructor for the company. 

In June of 2019 Gunnery Sergeant Fury was promoted to his current rank of First Sergeant and was transferred to 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company.

His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award), Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3rd award).
