Biography

 

Captain Joseph A. Kramer
Commanding Officer
Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion 25th Marine Regiment

Captain Kramer is native of Bath, Maine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern history with a minor in Jewish Studies from Tulane University. During his undergraduate studies he studied Islam and Arabic at the American University in Cairo. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2012. Upon completion of The Basic School, he attended Infantry Officer Course and was subsequently assigned to 2nd Platoon, Company I, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines.

In February 2014, he deployed to Romania with as the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander in support of the Black Sea Rotational Force. Returning from deployment in August 2014, he was assigned as the Weapons Company Executive Officer.

From August 2015 – February 2016, he deployed to Romania again in support of the Black Sea Rotational Force. Immediately following his return, he received orders to Marine Barracks Washington and checked-in in March 2016.

Captain Kramer served at Marine Barracks Washington with Guard Company and Company A from March 2016 – September 2019. From there, ended his active service, joined the USMCR, and attached to the Marine Corps Operations Center as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee. He served there for two years before joining the SMCR in 2021 as the Commanding Officer of Weapons Company, 2d Battalion 25th Marines. He is serving there while concurrently in graduate school at Georgetown University pursuing a Masters in Business Administration.
