First Sergeant Michael P. Bussman
Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

First Sergeant Bussman enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2008 via the Delayed Entry Program (DEP), reporting to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego on 15 June 2009. On 11 September 2009, Recruit Bussman graduated recruit training as a Private First Class. Private First Class Bussman was subsequently ordered to attend Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton California in addition to the Basic Engineer Equipment Repairer's Course at Ft Leonard Wood Missouri, where he graduated on 19 January 2010.
 
In February 2010,  Private First Class Bussman was checked into Charlie Company, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group in Peoria, Illinois. Private First Class Bussman was promoted to Lance Corporal in March 2010. In May 2010, Lance Corporal Bussman was ordered to Nogales, Arizona to assist Joint Task Force North and the United States Border Patrol for his annual training.
 
In May 2011, Lance Corporal Bussman completed an Inter Unit Transfer (IUT) to Delta Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division in Knoxville, Tennessee. In August 2011, Lance Corporal Bussman spent two weeks aboard the USS San Antonio for annual training. In July 2013, Lance Corporal Bussman was ordered to Senegal, Africa to participate in the Western Accord annual training exercise.
 
On 1 January 2013, Lance Corporal Bussman was promoted to the rank of Corporal. He then assumed the billet of Platoon Guide of Headquarters Platoon. From March 2014 to December 2014, Corporal Bussman served as the Platoon Sergeant for Headquarters Platoon.
 
On 1 January 2015, Corporal Bussman was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In May 2015, Sergeant Bussman completed an Inter Unit Transfer (IUT) to Headquarters and Support Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 451 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sergeant Bussman graduated the Engineer Equipment Mechanic NCO Course in April 2016. He assumed the duties of the Maintenance Platoon Sergeant in October 2016.
 
Sergeant Bussman was mobilized with MARFOREUR/AF in Stuttgart, Germany in May 2017. He served as a Watch NCO until 30 September 2017. Upon completion of that mobilization he was mobilized again, checking in with Wounded Warrior Battalion-East aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on 10 Nov 2017. Sergeant Bussman was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on 1 February 2018. While with Wounded Warrior Battalion-East, Staff Sergeant Bussman served as a Section Leader and Platoon Commander, with collateral duties such as Command Physical Training Representative and Equal Opportunity Representative. Staff Sergeant Bussman demobilized on 26 September 2020.
 
Staff Sergeant Bussman then checked into Engineer Company Charlie, 6th Engineer Support Battalion in Peoria, Illinois in October 2021, where he served as the Support Platoon Commander. Staff Sergeant Bussman was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in August 2022 and became the Company Gunnery Sergeant in December 2022.
 
Gunnery Sergeant Bussman was selected for promotion to First Sergeant and was frocked in November 2025.
 
First Sergeant Bussman checked into Rifle Company Bravo, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Terre Haute, Indiana in January 2026, where he is currently serving as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader.
 
First Sergeant Bussman's personal awards include the Navy Achievement Medal and various other Service and Campaign medals.
