Biography

 

Major Scott Roman
Commanding Officer, Papa Battery, 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment

Major Roman is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Manhattan College and received his commission through Officer Candidates School on December 10, 2010. After completing The Basic School and receiving a designation as a Basic Field Artillery Officer in July 2011 Captain Roman was directed to attend the Field Artillery Officer's Basic Course at Fort Sill, OK. Major Roman graduated from the Field Artillery Basic Officer Course, and then reported to Battery G, 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. While at Battery G, Major Roman served as the fire direction officer (FDO), guns platoon commander, forward observer, and the executive officer.

In December 2015 Major Roman took over the billet as battalion FDO for 3d Battalion 14th Marine Regiment. During his time as battalion FDO, Major Roman participated in a battalion minus Fire Exercise in Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst in February 2016, and exercise Saipan Rain 2016. During exercise Saipan Rain Major Roman acted as the 11th Marines Regiment, regimental FDO.

In June 2016 Major Roman was assigned to 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), as a Fire-power Control Team Leader where he was mobilized and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Resolute Support and Freedom's Sentinel with the 31st Georgian Light Infantry Battalion. While assigned to 6th ANGLICO, Major Roman graduated from the Terminal Air Control Party course at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Pacific in Coronado, designated a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) in 2017, and graduated the Fire Support Coordination Center course in 2016. Major Roman returned to Headquarters Battery 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment to serve as the Battalion Liaison Officer. During this time he participated in two battalion level firing exercises.

In June 2019 Major Roman was activated in support of Unit Deployment Program 20.1 in support of 1st Battalion, 25th Marines and received orders to Fort Devens, MA. During the deployment, Major Roman Participated in Integrated Training Exercise 5-19, Fuji Viper, Korean Marine Exchange Program 20.1, and Marine Aviation Support Activity 20.1. Major Roman received his qualification as a Joint Fire Observer-Evaluator in August 2019.

In October 2020 Major Roman assumed the responsibilities as the Commanding Officer, Battery P, 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division.
