First Sergeant Brent W. Huntington Jr.

First Sergeant Brent William Huntington Jr. is a native of Bellevue Washington. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 18 June 2001 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California on 14 September 2001. PFC Huntington reported to Marine Combat Training, and then to his Military Occupational School at Camp Johnson, North Carolina for the Basic Landing Support Specialist Course.

In January 2001, PFC Huntington checked into Alpha Company, 4th Landing Support Battalion located at Ft Lewis, Washington. While stationed at A Co, 4th LSB, PFC Huntington was promoted LCpl and served as a Landing Support Specialist.

In March 2003, LCpl Huntington activated in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and was assigned to the Security Platoon, Combat Service Support Company 135, Combat Service Support Battalion 13, 4th Force Service Support Group. During his deployment, LCpl Huntington served as convoy security for various resupply missions in support of 1st MARDIV’s push to Baghdad. 

In September of 2004, LCpl Huntington was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Cpl and volunteered for activation again in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He was attached to Landing Support Company, Combat Service Support Battalion 7, who’s mission was to run the Arrival and Departure Air Control Group at Al Asad Airbase in western Iraq.  In April 2005, Cpl Huntington demobilized and returned to A Co, 4th LSB.

Over the next subsequent years, at A Co, 4th LSB, Cpl Huntington held many key billets such as Squad Leader and Training NCO. In July 2006 he participated in the multinational exercise AFRICAN LION in Morocco North Africa and conducted port operations in support of 4th Tank Battalion. In October 2006, Cpl Huntington was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned as the Platoon Sergeant of 2nd Platoon, A Co. In June 2007, Sgt Huntington took part in joint exercise TALISMAN SABER at the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area in Queensland, Australia. 

In January 2010, Sgt Huntington was promoted to SSgt and was activated in June 2011 to support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan. SSgt Huntington was assigned to Landing Support Detachment, 4th Marine Logistics Group (Forward), Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan and was the Staff Noncommissioned Officer in charge of the Rotary Wing A/DACG. In March 2012, SSgt Huntington returned to A Co, 4th LSB and assumed the role of Co Gunnery Sergeant. 
In June 2013, MFR restructured the MLG causing 4th LSB to transition to the newly established Combat Logistics Battalion 23. SSgt Huntington held multiple billets at CLB-23, such as the BN S-4 Chief, as well as at the Co level as the H&S Co Gunnery Sergeant. 

In April 2014, SSgt Huntington was promoted to GySgt and transferred to the Individual Mobilization Augmentee program to be the Logistic Operations Chief at United States Central Command, at McDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. GySgt Huntington served in the Strategic Joint Logistic section, remotely supporting combat operations in Iraq as part of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. 

In October 2018, GySgt Huntington transitioned back into the SMCR to become the Battalion Logistics Chief for 5th Battalion, 14th Marines, at Seal Beach, California. GySgt Huntington participated in multiple live fire artillery exercises and led the logistical planning of the battalion’s Integrated Training Exercise 4-19 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California. 

In May of 2019, GySgt Huntington was frocked to the rank of 1stSgt, and was assigned to Headquarters & Service Company, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, Portland, Oregon. While at H&S Co, 6th ESB, 1stSgt Huntington participated in various Company and Battalion level exercises. 

In June of 2022 he reported to Battery Q, 5th Battalion, 14th Marines as the Battery First Sergeant where he currently serves.

1stSgt Huntington’s personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd awarded), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

1stSgt Huntington is a Senior Construction Manager in the San Antonio area. He holds a B.A. in History from the University of Washington.
