LTJG Robert A. Kirk was born in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating Urbandale High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy on 23 September 1999.
His duty assignments include: Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois; Hospital Corpsman “A” School Great Lakes, Illinois; Field Medical Service School “C” School Camp Pendleton, California; Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center, 3rd Marine Division 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, Consolidated Divers Unit/Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, Naval School of Health Science Independent Duty Corpsman School, SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team-ONE, Surface Warfare Medical Institute and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit THREE.
In 2017, after serving 17 years as a Hospital Corpsman Senior Chief Deep Sea Diving Independent Duty Corpsman, LTJG Kirk was commissioned in the Medical Service Corps, United States Navy. Shortly after Officer Development School he reported to 4th Marine Corps Logistics Command and currently serves as the Inspector & Instructor/Officer-in-Charge for 4th Dental Battalion.
LTJG Kirk received a Bachelor of Science majoring in Clinical Health Science from The George Washington University and subsequently earned a Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Healthcare Administration from National University in 2016. His decorations include; the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two gold stars), Navy Achievement Medal (one silver and two gold stars), Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Citation (two stars), Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation., Navy Good Conduct Medal (with four stars), Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (with EGA), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon ( one star), Rifle Marksmanship Medal (Expert), Pistol Marksmanship Medal (Expert).
