Biography

 

Captain Spencer D. Dyson
Inspector-Instructor
Hotel Battery, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines

 A Native of Archdale, North Carolina, Captain Spencer Dyson reported to Officer Candidate School, Quantico, VA in June 2017 where he commissioned through the Officer Candidate Course program. Upon commissioning, Captain Dyson reported to The Basic School and graduated in February 2018. He reported to the Marine Artillery Basic Officer Course in April 2018. 
 
In April 2018 Second Lieutenant Dyson reported to Alpha Battery 1st Battalion 10th Marine Regiment.  While there, he held the billet of Fire Direction Officer and Headquarters Platoon Commander.  He participated in Battalion FIREX 18.2, Rolling Thunder 19.1, Battalion FIREX 19.1 and Burmese Chase with coalition forces. In August 2019, First Lieutenant Dyson deployed to Camp Hansen, Okinawa in support of Unit Deployment Program 19.2, where he participated in Artillery Relocation Training Program 19.3 aboard Yausubetsu Maneuver Area Hokkaido, Japan. 
 
Upon redeployment, First Lieutenant Dyson was assigned to Battery I, 1st Battalion 10th Marine Regiment as the Executive Officer and  participated in Battalion FIREX 20.1. 
 
In July of 2020 First Lieutenant Dyson conducted Rolling Thunder 20-1 and Marine Expeditionary Force Exercise 20.1 as the  Battalion Fire Direction Officer and Assistant Operations Officer for 1st Battalion 10th Marine Regiment.
 
First Lieutenant Dyson assumed the role of Executive Officer for Battery R, 5th Battalion 10th Marine Regiment in November 2020. He assisted in the creation and implementation of the first High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Battery on the East Coast. Captain Dyson participated in multiple operations to include Rolling Thunder 21-2 and Arrow Head Thunder 21-2. 
 
In May 2021 Captain Dyson was assigned to Battery H, 3d Battalion 14th Marine Regiment as the Inspector Instructor,  Richmond, Virginia.  
 
Captain Dyson Graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a degree in Natural Resources with a concentration in Soil and Water Conservation. Captain Dyson worked as a Research Associate at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in partnership with North Carolina State University and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Program prior to commissioning through the Officer Candidate Course program aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico.
