First Sergeant Kyle H. Guppy

Battery I, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment

First Sergeant Kyle H. Guppy is a native of West Monroe, NY. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 25 August 2003. Upon completion of Recruit Training and Marine Combat Training, First Sergeant Guppy attended Personnel Administration School at Camp Johnson, NC for training in the administration military occupational specialty (MOS). 

Upon graduation, he was assigned to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, HI. During this tour, First Sergeant Guppy served at the Base Personnel Administration Center and G-1, Adjutant Section. In 2005, First Sergeant Guppy volunteered for an Individual Augment (IA) billet to serve at U.S. Central Command, Tampa, FL and was assigned to the J-1. In 2006, First Sergeant Guppy volunteered for a second IA and deployed to Iraq with the Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq from June 2006 to December 2006.

In April 2007, First Sergeant Guppy was transferred to Marine Aircraft Group 31 in Beaufort, SC where he served as the Adjutant Chief. During this tour, he participated in exercise Desert Talon and attended the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course.

In January 2010, First Sergeant Guppy was assigned to the Office of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington, D.C. and served on both the 34th and 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps’ administrative teams.

In January 2014, First Sergeant Guppy attended Drill Instructor School at MCRD Parris Island, SC. Upon completion, he was assigned to Company B, 1st Recruit Training Battalion and served as a Drill Instructor, and Senior Drill Instructor. In August 2016, he served as a Senior Drill Instructor, Company A, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. In December 2016, First Sergeant Guppy was reassigned to Company D, 1st Recruit Training Battalion for duty as a Chief Drill Instructor. First Sergeant Guppy also served as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant, and S-4 Chief for 1st Recruit Training Battalion. 

In May 2017, First Sergeant Guppy was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment in Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as the Administrative Chief. During this tour, First Sergeant Guppy deployed to Okinawa, Japan, Fuji, Japan, and the Republic of Korea in support of Forward Deployed Battalion - East 17.2 from August 2017 through February 2018. In March 2019, First Sergeant Guppy deployed to Setermoen, Norway in support of Marine Rotational Force – Europe 19.2 until September 2019. In June 2020, First Sergeant Guppy was transferred to Marine Aircraft Group 29, Marine Corps Air Station, New River.

In August 2021 First Sergeant Guppy was promoted to his current rank and is currently serving as the Inspector Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, Battery I, 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment. 

First Sergeant Guppy’s personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness from Purdue University Global.
