BIC Information

It is important to understand Billet Identification Codes (BIC) for purposes of Career Progression within Marine Forces Reserve (MFR).  Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) and Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) members must align to structure determined by the Total Force Structure Division (TFSD) viewed by referring to a units’ Table of Organization & Equipment (T/O&E).  A T/O&E establishes how many types of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), and of those MOS’s how many of each grade/rank, are required to complete the units’ mission.  These determinations are referred to as BIC’s.  Marines must occupy BIC’s that are commensurate with their grade and MOS and in accordance with the current BIC Assignment and Management Policy published by Reserve Affairs.  BIC’s will be managed by the units’ Manpower Manager through the Inventory Development and Management System (IDMS).
