Sergeant Major Joshua D. Perry

Sergeant Major Perry is a native of Beckley, West Virginia and enlisted in the Marine Corp in April 2003. He graduated Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation he reported to Marine Combat Training (MCT), Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

Following MCT, he was assigned to Alpha Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB) in Charleston, WV. During his time in Alpha Company, Lance Corporal Perry attended Primary Marksmanship Instructor School in 2004, and graduated later that year. 

In January 2005, Lance Corporal Perry was sent on his first deployment to Iraq with the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines. Upon his return, Corporal Perry reported back to Alpha Company, 4th CEB. He would serve as Squad Leader 1st Platoon, A Co until his next deployment.

In June 2007, Sergeant Perry was deployed for his second tour in Iraq. He served as 1st Squad Leader, 1st Platoon, supporting 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines as Route Clearance Subject Matter Expert.

In July 2009, Staff Sergeant Major Perry was once again deployed to Iraq. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines as a Platoon Guide. During this deployment, Staff Sergeant Perry earned his Black Belt. Later that year he returned to CONUS.

In May 2010, Staff Sergeant Major Perry deployed in support of Humanitarian Mission to Alaska. This was an annual training exercise. During his time in Alaska, Staff Sergeant Perry supervised, trained and mentored Marines in Basic Engineering Skills for nearly five months.

In June 2012, Staff Sergeant Major Perry deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPAMGTF) mission to Africa. During his time with SPAMGTF he was the SNCOIC of all engineer training exercises. In January 2013, Staff Sergeant Perry attended the Martial Arts Center of Excellence (MACE) and graduated as a First Degree Black Belt Instructor Trainer.

In May 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Perry assumed the duties as the Company First Sergeant at Alpha Company, 4th CEB.

In April 2018, Gunnery Major Perry was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, India Company located in Johnson City, Tn where he served as the Company First Sergeant.

In May 2021, Sergeant Major Perry received orders to 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, 4th MLG, Charlie Company, Wright Patterson AFB, Oh where he served as the Company First Sergeant.

In May 2022, Sergeant Major Perry received orders to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112, MAGS-41, located in Fort Worth, TX where he will serves as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal with (V) and Gold Star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal with three Gold Stars in lieu of fourth award, Combat Action Ribbon, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
