Sergeant Major Chad A. Williams

1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

SgtMaj Williams attended boot camp at Parris Island, SC in December of 1994 and graduated March 1995. He then attended the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, NC graduating June of 1995 as an 0311 rifleman. 
After SOI, PFC Williams reported to Kilo Co 3/25 as a rifleman.  During this period LCpl Williams participated in Operation Battle Griffin, Norway.  LCpl Williams was meritoriously promoted to Cpl by Regiment in 1997.  Cpl Williams participated in Operation Artic Blast, Meaford, Canada as a Fire Team Leader.  Cpl Williams then attended the 0341 Division Schools package, Camp Pendleton in 2000 where he was the Honor Graduate and promoted to Sergeant upon returning.

Returning from Division Schools, Sgt Williams transferred to Weapons Co 3/25 to serve as a Mortar Section Leader.  In 2001, Sgt Williams was selected as 3rd Bn, 25th Marines, Marine of the Year, and the USO Northeast Ohio Marine of the Year.  Sgt Williams then deployed to Haditha, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a mobile assault platoon sergeant.  Upon returning from Iraq, Sgt Williams was selected as the 25th Marine Regiment Marine of the Year for 2005 and USO Northeast Ohio Marine of the Year.  June of 2005, Sgt Williams was promoted to Staff Sergeant. 

In 2008, SSgt Williams participated in Operation Tailsman Saber, Rockhampton, Australia as the 81mm Platoon Commander.  SSgt Williams then deployed to Tiblis, Georgia as an advisor and instructor to the Georgian mortar men.  SSgt Williams attended Infantry Unit Leader’s Course (IULC), Camp Pendleton in 2009.  In early 2010, SSgt Williams attended Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) school at Little Creek, VA graduating as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC).  After being promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in 2010, GySgt Williams deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) embedded support with the Army, Royal British Marines, and Marines.  Once returning from deployment, GySgt Williams transferred to Weapons Company 1st Bn, 24th Marines to serve as the Operations Chief.  GySgt Williams was selected and promoted to 1stSgt in May 2013.  1stSgt Williams served as the 1stSgt for Weapons Company, 2d Bn, 25th Marines from May 2013 to June 2016.  He was then assigned to Headquarters and Service Company, 2d Bn, 25th Marines from June 2016 to May 2019.  SgtMaj Williams was promoted to Sergeant Major in May 2019 and reported to Headquarters 1st Bn, 24th Marines as the Battalion Sergeant Major. 

His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat “V” device with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.

SgtMaj Williams owns and operates a custom millwork and stone veneer fabrication business.  The business specializes in processing stone into thin veneers to allow natural stone to be lightweight and flexible.  He is married and has two daughters.
