LtCol Egan attended Penn State University and participated in the Naval ROTC program. Upon graduation and commissioning in 2000, LtCol Egan attended the Basic School and Infantry Officers Course (0302) in Quantico, VA. He was immediately assigned to 1st Bn 4th Marines where he deployed as an Infantry Platoon Commander with the 13th MEU, one of the first respond units to the 9/11 attacks on the US. During this MEU deployment, as the Helo Company’s security element commander he had the opportunity to participate in training events with BN and MEU level staff processes and operations with foreign militaries in Qatar, Bahrain, Thailand, Kenya, and Singapore returning to CONUS in July 2002.

In Jan 2003 LtCol Egan deployed as a Company Executive Officer for both the invasion and the occupation of Iraq. During this time, he served as a Combat leader coordinating fires, conducting security and nation building activities as well as collaborating with NATO partners on lessons learned. Transferring to the USMCR in 2009 he attended MIOC and was assigned a new primary MOS (0202). He was assigned as the platoon commander for Imagery Interpretation platoon, and the Production analysis platoon Company B, Intelligence Support Battalion (ISB) from 2010 – 2011 and deployed in a joint capacity as the Political and Economic Intelligence Officer for Helmand, Afghanistan (earning an additional; MOS -9701- Joint Qualified Officer). During this tour he participated in RC level staff work while concurrently authoring US and international reports as well as policy outlines that still affect our current operations in theater.

Upon his return LtCol Egan was assigned as the Company Executive Officer for Production and Analysis Company, ISB where he served through 2012. In 2012 he was assigned as an IMA with MARFORPAC as a Senior Watch Officer, where he served while simultaneously attending the Command and Staff weekend seminar program in Ft Worth, TX. In 2016 LtCol Egan was chosen to be the Commanding Officer CI/HUMINT Company (A Co), ISB deploying Marines in support of intelligence and combat operations worldwide while maintaining a secondary role as an instructor with Davis Defense Group (Expeditionary Warfare School – 8664). He transitioned in 2017 to the IMEF/MCI-West staff where he has since served as the Assistant Force Protection Officer on the Mission Assurance Team.

Lt Col Egan has been married to his wife Angie for 15 years; they have three children Ashley (13), Luke (11) and Allison (7). He resides in Denver CO, where in addition to his USMCR career - he is the Senior Director of Media and Partnerships for 24 Hour Fitness. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat V, Combat Action Ribbon, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, GWOT Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the NATO Medal.
