Biography

 

Lieutenant Colonel David F. Lasseter
Commanding Officer, Intelligence Support Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel Lasseter is a native of Columbus, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2001 with an A.B. in History and a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2005. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 2002. He completed The Basic School and Logistics Officer Course in 2006. 

In 2006, Lieutenant Colonel Lasseter was assigned to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune North Carolina. He served as the S-4A, Embarkation Officer, and combat logistics patrol commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then assumed the billet as Battalion Logistics Officer for 2d Battalion, 2d Marines and deployed again to Iraq in support of combat operations. 

Lieutenant Colonel Lasseter left Camp Lejeune in 2009 for Washington, DC where he served as a Congressional Liaison in the Marine Corps Office of Legislative Affairs at the Pentagon. In this role, he provided guidance to the Legislative Assistant to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and enabled coordination and planning efforts with Congressional offices in support of Marine Corps priorities. 

In 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Lasseter joined 4th Civil Affairs Group in Washington, DC. Upon completion of MAGTF Intelligence Officer Course, he assumed the role as the unit’s intelligence officer. During this period of service he supported the unit’s rapid deployment cycle and continuous support to exercises and operations around the globe.

In 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Lasseter became Commander of Headquarters and Service Company, Intelligence Support Battalion. He subsequently served as Commander of Production & Analysis Company and Bravo Company as well as Battalion XO. Most recently he was the Deputy Director for Intelligence Oversight in the office of the Marine Corps Inspector General.

In his civilian capacity, Lieutenant Colonel Lasseter is the founder of consultancy Horizons Global Solutions. Prior to that he was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction. He has also served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General at DOJ as well as a Military Legislative Assistant, Counsel, and Chief of Staff for multiple members of Congress. Lieutenant Colonel Lasseter is also a board member of Rivers of Recovery, a non-profit providing recreational therapy to combat wounded veterans. 

His military decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit awards.
