Biography

 

Lieutenant Colonel Kyle D. Lynch
Commanding Officer
3rd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment

Lieutenant Colonel Lynch commissioned in 2006 and completed the Basic School and Field Artillery Officer's Basic Course, before reporting to 1st Bn, 12th Marines (1/12) in January of 2008. While in 1/12 he served a Forward Observer, Platoon Commander, and a Battery Executive Officer. During this period, he participated in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM as a platoon commander.

In June 2010, he was assigned to the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) as the Target Information Officer and was subsequently promoted Captain. In March 2011, the MEU deployed to the Mediterranean Sea in support of Operations ODYSSEY DAWN, and UNIFIED PROTECTOR in Libya. Captain Lynch then reported for duty as the MEU Liaison Officer at Expeditionary Strike Group-5 in Bahrain.  Upon returning from deployment, he assumed the role of MEU Assistant Operations Officer until June of 2013.  

Captain Lynch left active duty and reported to 3d Bn, 14th Marines in July of 2013. He became the Assistant Operations Officer and then assumed command of Battery H. He commanded the Battery for 28 months, was promoted to Major and became the Battalion Operations Officer for two years.

In 2019, Major Lynch reported to the MAGTF Staff Training Program (MSTP) IMA Detachment and served as a Fires and Targeting Officer where he supported MEF and MEB level training exercises for I, II, and III MEF.  In 2021, Major Lynch was assigned as the Aide-de-Camp for the Commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces South for 13 months.

In 2022, Major Lynch transferred to 14th Marine Regiment, where he became the Fire Support Coordinator for the Force Artillery Headquarters (FAHQ) and supported a USAFRICOM exercise as the Deputy Maritime Fires Officer in Naples, Italy. He was promoted to his current rank in May of 2023, and assumed command of 3d Battalion in June of 2023.

He is a graduate of Command and Staff College and Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Programs, and numerous service and Joint fires support courses.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute, and a Master of Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  

In his civilian career he is a Professional Engineer and Project Manager for an international Architecture-Engineering and Infrastructure Firm.
