Combat Lifesaver Course recertification trainer Petty Officer 2nd Class Henry Ortiz, a corpsman with 4th Medical Bn. and native of Phoenix, Ariz., prepares a nasopharyngeal for a demonstration during Exercise Javelin Thrust. A nasopharyngeal is one way to open an airway through the nostril in the event of a blocked windpipe. Javelin Thrust is an annual large-scale exercise here which allows active and reserve Marines and sailors from 38 different states to train together as a seamless Marine Air Ground Task Force.
