MISSION STATEMENT
The Counsel to the Commander is assigned by the Office of the General Counsel of the Navy and reports directly to the Counsel for the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
The Counsel to the Commander provides legal advice to Commander, Marine Forces Reserve and all Marine Forces Reserve staff sections, Major Subordinate Commands, and Inspector-Instructor staffs and units for all matters concerning:
◾Land Use and Environmental Law
◾Government Contracts, Business and Commercial Law
◾Labor and Civilian Personnel Law
◾Government Ethics and Standards of Conduct
◾Fiscal Law
Additionally, the Counsel's office processes all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act requests and appeals sent to any Marine Forces Reserve location.
