Biography

 

Sergeant Major Reid Kimball
Command Senior Enlisted Leader
4th Combat Engineer Battalion

Sergeant Major Kimball is a native of Boston, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2002. Private First Class Kimball graduated from Company I, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion in December of 2002. He then reported to Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training. Following the completion of Marine Combat Training, PFC Kimball reported to Camp Johnson, North Carolina for Organizational Automotive Maintenance Technician Course. He then reported to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines; an infantry unit located in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.  In 2003, Lance Corporal Kimball deployed to Camp Hansen, Okinawa Japan on the Unit Deployment Program before being transferred later that year to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the LHD-7 USS Essex. 

In 2005, Corporal Kimball deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Nagalam, Afghanistan with 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines, Company E. During this deployment Cpl Kimball was promoted to Sergeant.  Following his deployment to Afghanistan Sgt Kimball again deployed, this time to Haditha Dam, Haditha, Iraq; in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006.  He served as the battalions contact maintenance team as the lead mechanic.

Sgt Kimball left active duty in July of 2007 and entered into the Inactive Ready Reserve until joining Military Police Company, Headquarters Battalion, 4th Marine Division, St. Paul, Minnesota as a Staff Sergeant in January 2010. SSgt Kimball would continue his service as the Motor Transport Maintenance Chief and Headquarters Platoon Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, with Military Police Company and during its transition to 4th Law Enforcement Battalion from 2010 through 2019; promoting to Gunnery Sergeant in 2013.  During this time as Maintenance chief he participated in many training events unique to the law enforcement community in places like South Africa, Camp Pendleton and Norway, until promoting to First Sergeant.

In 2019 he assumed the duties of Company First Sergeant of Charlie Company 4th Tank Battalion 4th Marine Division Boise, Idaho ahead of its deactivation in 2021 at which time he was assigned as the Company First Sergeant at Headquarters Company 4th Law Enforcement Battalion FHG St. Paul, Minnesota. He was promoted to Sergeant Major in 2023 and assigned as Battalion Sergeant Major at 4th Combat Engineer Battalion 4th Marine Division Baltimore, Maryland. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal 2 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various other service and Campaign Medals.  In his civilian life he owns and operates a residential and commercial construction firm in southwest Minnesota.
