Biography

 

Captain Chandler T. Brown
Commanding Officer
Company C, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion

Capt. Chandler T. Brown is a native of Carson City, Nevada. He attended Carson High School in Carson City, NV graduating in May of 2003. After graduation, he attended the University of Nevada-Reno earning a Bachelor of Arts in History in June 2008.

Candidate Brown arrived at Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Quantico, Virginia in May 2013 as part of Company C. 2nd Lt. Brown commissioned on August 9, 2014 and checked into The Basic School (TBS) that same weekend and began training the following Monday as a part of Company F. After The Basic School, in March 2014, 2nd Lt. Brown was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 1802, Armor Officer.

2nd Lt. Brown arrived at the Army’s Armor Basic Officer Leader Course (ABOLC) located on Fort Benning, Georgia in March 2014 where he was instructed to use the M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank (MBT) as well as the use of dismounted and mounted reconnaissance assets.

After graduating from ABOLC in October 2014 2nd Lt. Brown checked in at Company A, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division located on Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, CA as a Platoon Commander in October 2014.

In June 2017 1st Lt. Brown led a tank platoon with a detachment of tank mechanics to Latvia to participate in Saber Strike and international integration with a Polish tank platoon for live fire and maneuver exercise.

In November 2017 1st Lt. Brown, became the Executive Officer of Company A, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division. In June of 2018 Capt. Brown led a detachment to participate in Norther Strike located in Grayling, Michigan. In July 2019 Capt. Brown led the Company FiST during the Tank Mechanized Assault Course (TMAC) at ITX 4-19.

In March 2020 the Force Design 2030 was released and all tank companies were to be deactivated. In July 2020 Company A, 4th Tank Battalion cased its colors, and Capt. Brown transitioned to a new MOS. Capt. Brown was one of several Armor Officers to Lateral Move to Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) joining Company A, 4th LAR 4th Marine Division in December 2020.

Capt. Brown graduated LAR Leader’s Course in March 2021 and served as 1st Platoon’s Platoon Commander with Company A, 4th LAR until September 2022.

In September of 2022 Capt. Brown assumed command of Company C 4th LAR where he currently serves.
