Staff Sergeant Dustin L. Kaiser
Instrument Repair Technician
Marine Forces Reserve Band

Staff Sergeant Kaiser is a native of Binghamton, New York and attended high school in Norwich, New York.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2008 and attended recruit training in Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.  In October 2008, he reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training.  He was then transferred to the Naval School of Music, Little Creek, Virginia where he was promoted to Lance Corporal and earned the MOS of 5524.
 
In June 2009, upon completion of school, Lance Corporal Kaiser reported for duty to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California.  He was assigned to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band, where he performed his duties as a musician.  He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2010 and Sergeant in 2011. 
 
In March 2012, Sergeant Kaiser received orders to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California.  He was assigned to the 1st Marine Division Band as a musician.  In October 2012, Sergeant Kaiser deployed to Afghanistan, attached to Regimental Combat Team 7, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  While deployed he performed his duties as a facilities Non-Commissioned Officer on Forward Operating Base Payne, in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. Returning from deployment, he performed his duties as a musician and apprenticed with the Instrument Repair Technician. 
 
In June 2015, Sergeant Kaiser reported to the Marine Forces Pacific Band, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.  He was assigned as a musician.  He apprenticed with the Instrument Repair Technician for two years, filled the billet of Instrument Repair Technician for a period of six months, and was the unit's Platoon Sergeant for one year.  In April 2018, he attended the Basic Recruiter Course in San Diego, California.  Upon graduating the course and earning the MOS of 8411 in June of 2018, he returned to the MARFORPAC Band. 
 
In July 2018, Staff Sergeant Kaiser received orders to Recruiting Station Albany, Recruiting Sub-Station Syracuse, Syracuse, New York.  After he was certified as a canvassing recruiter, he became the Station Commander in July of 2019.  From March of 2020 to July of 2021, he served as the Officer Selection Assistant at Officer Selection Station Syracuse, in Syracuse, New York.
 
In August of 2021, SSgt Kaiser reported to the Marine Forces Reserve Band, New Orleans LA where he currently serves as a saxophone instrumentalist and the acting Instrument Repair Technician. 
 
Staff Sergeant Kaiser's military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon, and the NATO Medal.
