Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion Sergeant Major Dean S. Orial

Dean S. Orial is a native of Pensacola, Florida.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps on July 30, 1996. Upon completion of recruit training at MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina, he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. While there he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.  In January 1997 he attended the Assault Amphibian Repairman Course at Camp Del Mar, California and was subsequently assigned the MOS of 2141.


In May 1997, Lance Corporal Orial was assigned to Alpha Company, 2d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune for duty as an AAV Mechanic.  He completed one unit deployment with II MEF Marine Forces 38-97 UNITAS.                                     


In October 1998 Sergeant Orial attended the Intermediate Maintenance Chief Course in Camp Del Mar, California upon completion he returned to 2d AABN, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  While there he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  


In January 2000 Sergeant Orial was assigned to the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) Program Office in Woodbridge Va. to assume the billet of an EFV Developmental Test Mechanic.


In February 2004 Staff Sergeant reported to Combat Assault Company, 3rd Marine Regiment, Marine Corps Base, Hawaii.  He served as the Company Maintenance Chief.


In June 2006 Gunnery Sergeant Orial transferred to Marine Corps Logistics Command, Albany, Georgia, where he served as an Amphibious Assault Vehicle Equipment Specialist for the 4th Echelon of Maintenance Migration Team.


In October 2006 to March 2008 he was reassigned to stand up the new Headquarters Company East, Marine Corps Logistics Command, Albany, Georgia, where he served as the Company First Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant.


In April of 2008 he was deployed as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Marine Corps Logistics Command (Forward) Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In December 2008, he was selected for First Sergeant.


In April of 2009 he was transferred 1st Battalion 12th Marines, Marine Corps Base, Hawaii and assumed duties as the Bravo Battery First Sergeant.  


In August of 2010 he deployed to Okinawa, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program. Upon return in March of 2011 from deployment, First Sergeant Orial assumed the duties as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for Remain Behind Element while the Battalion was forward deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom.


In February of 2012, First Sergeant Orial reported to 2d Intelligence Battalion and assumed the duties as the Echo Company First Sergeant.  In November of 2012, he deployed as the Detachment First Sergeant for 2d Intelligence Battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 


In March of 2014 upon his selection to Sergeant Major, he was assigned Combat Logistics Battalion 6 to assume the duties as the Battalion Sergeant Major.


While with Combat Logistics Battalion 6 Sergeant Major Orial deployed the Battalion to the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 15.2/16.1 for 9 months.


On June 15th, 2016 Sergeant Major Orial was reassigned to his current billet as the Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major for 4th Law Enforcement Battalion.


Sergeant Major Orial’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in lieu of second award.
