First Sergeant Brian J. Grabowski

First Sergeant Grabowski is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota.  He graduated from Tartan High School in June 2003 and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 7 December 2003.  He attended recruit training at Company M, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.  In March 2004, Private First Class Grabowski reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California.  Private First Class Grabowski graduated Marine Combat training in April 2004. 

From April 2004 to April 2005, Private First Class Grabowski attended H1 Flight and Mechanic School at Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 303, Camp Pendleton, California. During this time he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.

In April of 2005, Lance Corporal Grabowski reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 167 at Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina.  From May of 2006, to February of 2007, Lance Corporal Grabowski served two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and was promoted to the rank of Corporal.  Upon returning from Iraq, Corporal Grabowski attended Weapons and Tactics Instructors course at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona.  Corporal Grabowski became a Weapons and Tactics Instructor for the UH-1N helicopter, and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In August of 2007, Sergeant Grabowski was transferred to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365.  Sergeant Grabowski deployed to Afghanistan in March of 2008, participating in combat operations in Afghanistan.  Sergeant Grabowski returned from combat operations in October of 2008.

In June of 2009, Sergeant Grabowski was transferred to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 467 Cherry Point, North Carolina.  Sergeant Grabowski deployed to Haiti in 2010 in support of Humanitarian relief efforts on the United States Ship Bataan.  Sergeant Grabowski was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on 1 May 2010.  

In July of 2010, Staff Sergeant Grabowski reported to Marine Aviation Detachment, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.  Staff Sergeant Grabowski served as a test flight Crew Chief for the H1 helicopter program, and as a Government Quality Assurance Representative.

On 10 January 2016, Staff Sergeant Grabowski reported to Drill Instructor School class 2-16.  Staff Sergeant Grabowski successfully completed Drill Instructor School and reported to the First Recruit Training Battalion, Company D on 1 Apr 2016.  Staff Sergeant Grabowski was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant during this period on 1 July 2017.

On 17 March 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Grabowski detached from the 1st Recruit Training Battalion and reported to Drill Instructor School to serve in the billet of Squad Instructor, and Recruit Training Order Instructor.

On 24 May 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Grabowski reported to Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron One and served as the Flightline Division Chief until June of 2021.

On 29 June 2021, Gunnery Sergeant Grabowski was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant.  First Sergeant Grabowski then reported to Mike Battery, 3D Battalion, 14th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.  

First Sergeant Grabowski currently serves as the Inspector Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader.

First Sergeant Grabowski's personal awards include: 2 Individual Action Air Medals with Combat Distinguishing Device “V”, 10 Air Medals, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award.
