Sergeant Major Kharn S. Phetluangsy
Command Senior Enlisted Leader
2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment

SgtMaj Phetluangsy is a native of Vientiane, Laos and immigrated to the United States in 1976. He grew up in Amarillo, Texas and enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 1993. He reported to MCRD San Diego for recruit training and upon graduation proceeded to Camp Pendleton to attend the School of Infantry where he became an Antitank Assault Guided Missile Man (TOW). After initial training, he reported to Scout Platoon, Detachment H&S Co, 4th Tank Battalion in Amarillo, Texas. He served as squad leader during his duty at Scout Platoon.

Sergeant Phetluangsy deployed to Djibouti, Africa in 2006 with Bravo Company (-), 4th Anti-Terrorism Battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a Platoon Commander. After the deployment, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2008.  He moved with his civilian employment to Pennsylvania in 2008 and he transferred to Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, serving as a platoon sergeant. In 2011, he deployed with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines to the Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a Platoon Sergeant and Watch Officer. After returning home from the deployment, he transferred with his civilian employer to South Carolina. With that move, he transferred to 4th Ground Sensor Platoon, Headquarters and Service Company, Intelligence Support Battalion in Mobile, Alabama where he served as the Assistant Sensor Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant. He also served as the SNOIC for the New Orleans Detachment and was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.  

GySgt Phetluangsy was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant in 2019 and was assigned as the Company First Sergeant of Bulk Fuel A (-) in Tucson Arizona. In May 2022, 1stSgt Phetluangsy was transferred to serve as the First Sergeant at Headquarters Battery, 14th Regiment in Fort Worth, Texas. He was selected for promotion to Sergeant Major in 2023 and assigned to his current unit of 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment

SgtMaj Phetluangsy's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and various other service and campaign medals.

SgtMaj Phetluangsy is a graduate of West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. He is currently taking classes for his Master's of Engineering from West Texas A&M University.
