After completion of The Basic School in June 2000, Lieutenant Howard (prior to marriage) was assigned to Financial Management School in Camp Johnson, NC where she graduated top of her class. From there, she was stationed with 1st Force Service Support Group, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA as a deputy disbursing officer from September 2000 – September 2001. During this time, she participated in several exercises to include KERNAL BLITZ as a watch officer and the DEVIL PUPS program as a Series Commander, teaching leadership to young teenagers.


In October 2001, she joined the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Disbursing Officer and deployed from June - December 2002 aboard the USS BELLEAU WOOD to the CENTCOM AOR. Immediately upon return, she deployed again with Amphibious Task Force-WEST from January - July 2003 as the Disbursing Officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom, supporting the Marines of 3d MAW aboard the USS BONHOMME RICHARD, as well as Marines aboard six other ships operating in the Persian Gulf area.


After returning from her second deployment, she was stationed at Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, VA as a Financial Analyst on the Program Objectives Memorandum team. During this tour of duty she completed Amphibious Warfare School, non-resident; Masters of Science, Acquisition and Contract Management with the Florida Institute of Technology; and attained Level II DAWIA Certification from Defense Acquisition University in the area of Program Management and Financial Management, earning the additional MOS of 8057, Acquisition Professional Candidate.


Upon leaving active duty in December 2006, Captain Storm joined an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) detachment as the Comptroller, Headquarters Service Battalion, Marine Forces Pacific, Camp Smith, HI, serving from January 2007 – December 2009.  Captain Storm then commanded Ordnance Maintenance Company (-), 4th Marine Logistics Group in Waco, TX from March 2010 – May 2012. During that time, she was promoted to the rank of Major, completed Command and Staff Reserve Seminar, and Advanced Logistics Officers Course. She then served as Executive Officer for 4th Maintenance Battalion in Charlotte, NC from June 2012 – December 2014. During this time, she attained the MOS of 0402 (Logistics Officer), completed Advanced Joint PME, and earned a Master of Arts in Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. From January 2015 – June 2016, she served as the Combat Logistics Regiment 45 Future Operations Officer in Marietta, GA, spearheading efforts to integrate reserve Marines into the 2nd MLG MEF Exercise 2016. She also completed the 6-week Intermediate MAGTF Logistics Operations Course in 29 Palms, CA.


Personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.  She has also earned the Iraqi Campaign Medal with two bronze campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Select Marine Corps Reserve ribbon, Humanitarian Service Ribbon, and Sea Service Deployment ribbon with one bronze star.
