Lieutenant Colonel Michael A. Cap was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps after earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Illinois State University. Currently, Lieutenant Colonel Cap holds his Master in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. As a company grade officer, Lieutenant Colonel Cap served with First Battalion Fourth Marines and Third Battalion First Marines.

Lieutenant Colonel Cap served as the Aide de Camp for Major General Stone, the Commanding General, Marine Air Ground Taskforce Training Command, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California.

Next, Lieutenant Colonel Cap served as an Assistant Officer Selection Officer for the Ninth Marine Corps District. He was responsible for the officer selection mission covering the state of Iowa and Western Illinois.

Subsequently, Lieutenant Colonel Cap was assigned as the Assistant Inspector Instructor for the 24th Marine Infantry Regiment in Kansas City, Missouri. While serving with the 24th Marines, Lieutenant Colonel Cap planned and participated in the joint amphibious training exercises of UNITAS GOLD and Partnerships of the Americas 2009/2010.

From 2010 until 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Cap served as the Reserve Integration Officer within the G3/5/7 at Marine Forces Command. In 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Cap reported to Fort Leavenworth, to attend the Army Command and General Staff College.

From 2013 until 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Cap served as the Officer in Charge of Prior Service Recruiting Station Six, in Atlanta Georgia. His recruiters covered approximately 376,000 square miles of the Southeastern United States. During FY13 and FY14, his station was the top Prior Service Recruiting Station in the Eastern Recruiting Region, and received the Commandant’s Superior Achiever Award all three years.

Lieutenant Colonel Cap served as the Global Force Management Officer for the Fourth Marine Division in New Orleans from July 2016 until May 2017, before checking into 4th Civil Affairs Group.
