Sergeant Major Liechty currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for MAG 49

 

Sergeant Major Larry D. Liechty enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California in March 1992. Upon graduation from recruit training in June 1992

 

From June 1992 to September 1992, Private First Class Liechty attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton Ca., then receiving orders to Motor Transport School Camp Delmar, Camp Pendleton California.

 

From October 1992 to August 1994, Lance Corporal Liechty served as a Logistics Vehicle Support operator with 1st Recon BN and LAR Camp Pendleton Ca.

 

In September of 1994, Lance Corporal Liechty was transferred to 3rd Motor Transport Company Camp Foster Okinawa Japan. During this tour of duty, he served as Heavy section line NCO and deployed to Korea multiple times. He was selected for meritorious promotion to the ranks of Corpora.

 

In December 1996, Corporal Liechty was reassigned to 1st Landing Support Battalion Camp Pendleton Ca as the Embarkation Chief and was promoted to Sergeant.  

 

In January 1998, Sergeant Liechty requested orders to attend Drill Instructor School MCRD San Diego Ca. After completion of School he was assigned to Company D 1st Recruit Training Battalion. While assigned to Company D he served as Drill Instructor and Sr Drill Instructor.

 

Then in Aug of 2000 he was reassigned to serve in Support Bn as a Martial Arts Instructor.

 

After completion of his duties on the Recruit Depot he requested orders to Okinawa Japan. SSgt Liechty was assigned to Marine Air Control Group 18 as the Logistic Chief volunteering to deploy three times to Afghanistan and Iraq. During his tour in Iraq he was Promoted to GySgt and served as the PSD Chief for the G4. When he returned to Okinawa he was transferred to the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Bridgeport Ca.

 

In 2004 he reported as the Logistics Chief and Company Gunny for the training center. During that tour he help establish the training that Marine Units would use while deployed to Afghanistan.

 

Then in Nov 2007, GySgt Liechty was transferred back to Okinawa to serve with HMLA 265. In December of that year he was promoted to First Sergeant and transferred to 7th Communications Battalion Camp Hanson, Okinawa Japan. While serving with 7th Communications Battalion he was assigned to deploy to Korea as the Camp Commandant Camp Muchk for training exercise. When he returned from Korea he request to deploy with the Embedded Training Teams. In 2009 he was transferred to ETT 5-7 RCAC 3-7 and deployed to Loghman Province for 10 Months.  

 

In 2010 he was transferred to Officer Candidates School Quantico Va. 1stSgt Liechty served as a Company 1st Sgt for Headquarters Company and Company C where he was selected to Sergeant Major. 

 

In March of 2013 Sergeant Major Liechty was transferred to Recruiting Station San Francisco as the Senior Enlisted Advisor.

 

Then in July 2017 he was transferred to his current billet.

 

Sergeant Major’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold stars in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four gold stars in lieu of fifth award and the Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star in lieu of second award.
