Sergeant Major, 4th Civil Affairs Group Sergeant Major Adam N Sheinkin

SgtMaj Sheinkin is a native of New York and enlisted in the Marine Corps in August of 1989. He was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class during recruit training and graduated in November 1989. After recruit training PFC Sheinkin attended Marine Combat Training and the Basic Field Radio Operator’s school. His first duty assignment was Alpha Company 7th Communications Battalion in Okinawa Japan. He was promoted to Lcpl in July 1990. His tour of duty in Okinawa was extended six months due to the Persian Gulf War. While assigned to 7th communications Battalion Lcpl Sheinkin participated in Operation Valiant Blitz and Team Spirit in South Korea.


In November 1991 Lcpl Sheinkin was assigned to Headquarters Company 6th Marine Regiment. During this time Lcpl Sheinkin served as a field radio operator/ hazardous material NCO. He was promoted to Cpl in May 1992. Cpl Sheinkin left active duty in August 1993.


In May 1995 Cpl Sheinkin joined the Marine Corps Reserve and was assigned to Alpha Company 6th Communications Battalion in Amityville NY. He served as a Radio Supervisor and Very High Frequency NCO. He was promoted to Sergeant in May 1996 and was assigned as the Radio Platoon Sergeant. He attended the Sgt’s course in June 1999.


In July 1999 Sgt Sheinkin moved to South Carolina and transferred to Charlie Company 4th Landing Support Battalion. During this tour of duty Sgt Sheinkin was the Headquarters Platoon Sergeant and Radio Chief. In November 2001 Sgt Sheinkin attended the Primary Marksmanship Instructor’s course. After completion, he was assigned as the Company Training Chief. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in May 2002. Ssgt Sheinkin attended the Staff academy in July 2003.


In February 2004 Ssgt Sheinkin was activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom in support of OIF 2. Charlie Company was attached to Combat Service Support Brigade 7 and he was assigned to the Kuwait Detachment. He served as an Operation Chief for the air arrival and departure control group in Ali Al Salem Kuwait. Ssgt Sheinkin was deactivated in November 2004.


In May 2005 Ssgt Sheinkin transferred to Fox Company 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. He was assigned as the H&S Detachment Platoon Sergeant and Radio Chief. In December 2005, he was promoted to Gysgt. In April 2008 Gysgt Sheinkin was activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom in support of OIF 8-2. His company was attached to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. They deployed to Iraq in September 2008 and conducted operations in Al Anbar and Ninewa province. Gysgt Sheinkin was assigned as Headquarters Platoon Sergeant; then Headquarters Platoon Commander. He was promoted to 1stSgt in May 2009 and deactivated in June 2009.


In July 2009 1stSgt Sheinkin was transferred to 1st Battalion 25th Marines and was assigned as Weapons Company 1stSgt.  In May 2011 1stSgt Sheinkin was activated for Operation Enduring Freedom in support of OEF 11.2.  His company deployed to Helmand Province Afghanistan from August 2011 to December 2011. 1stSgt Sheinkin deactivated in May 2012.


In June 2012 1stSgt Sheinkin transferred to Bravo Company 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion to serve as Company 1stSgt. 1stSgt Sheinkin was selected to Sergeant Major in April 2013 and was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 25.


His personal decorations include the Navy commendation medal second award and the Navy achievement medal.
