Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Petty, MSC, Marine Wing Support Squadron 473, has been selected Navy Reserve Medicine's Health Care Clinician Officer of the Year for 2020, according to the Reserve Director of the Medical Service Corps. Petty, a reservist physician assistant, is currently mobilized in support of Task Force Resolve, tasked with developing COVID-19 mitigation and response measures to maintain the health and well-being of Marine Corps recruits. In presenting the award, Rear Admiral Mark Moritz, Deputy Commander, Naval Medical Forces Pacific, cited Petty for outstanding devotion to duty, strong organizational skills, and impressive leadership ability.
The Honorable Gregory J. Slavonic, currently performing the duties of Undersecretary of the Navy, coins a Marine with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773 at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, Jan. 5, 2021. January of 1917, the United States was not officially involved in World War I. Hostilities were raging in Europe since August of 1914. Since then, war had spread throughout the globe. Combat was sharp and quick in many remote battles and campaigns.

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program was founded in 1947 by Maj. Bill Hendricks, USMCR. Since 1947, Marine Reserve Centers throughout the country have collected new, unwrapped toys and distributed those toys to less fortunate children during the holiday season.
